Someone offered to sell me an Ithaca 37 lightweight for $200. I like the 37, but $200 seems high for a well used one with a fixed choke. Any opinions?

Used Ithacas seem to be approaching new ones in price. If it's anywhere near good shape, that seems to be low-end for a used Ithaca. Check out Gunbroker and you'll see vintage 37s going for well over that price. I'm not saying they're worth it, but that's what they seem to go for these days.

They are sublime pumps...

I paid $250 for a used 37 with a fixed choke 20 years ago. I also bought a 37 riot gun a few years ago, also for $250.

$200 for a functional 37 is a good buy, as far as I'm concerned.

That is definitely a good price for a M37. I bought my 20 gauge with I. Cyl. barrel in 1974 for $168.00. Yes...they have gone up even in the used market...but this is a 29 year old gun and I am using it on a weekly basis with no problem whatsoever. If it is not beat up....I would pay 200 bucks anytime for another one.

I've bought them cheaper, but I'm a predator. That's a really good price for an Ithaca. Make sure the buttstock isn't cracked right where it attaches to the receiver. It will split down the sides along the grain and also right behind the trigger guard. Examine this area closely.

I saw this ad in a mail-out I got. Price was intriguing- anyone know anything about this SG or this company (FAC of America) ? Is it the 3rd world copy of an Ithaca 37? The text says "bottom load, bottom eject". For $138 is that worth a gamble?

Don't spend the money. It's a piece of feces. Can Norinco make an Ithaca 37? I think not. Every one I've handled has been poorly machined, fitted, and executed. Don't waste your money on it.

I bought an original Ithaca 37 D.S Police for $160 ea. from a police dept trade in. Can't beat that. (I bought two at that price). Still had the slam-fire feature. :D

I've heard mixed reports about the Norinco 37 copies w/enough negative that I decided not to take the chance on one. Their 870 clones, however, seem to be pretty decent (if a bit crude), taking most 870 parts/accessories. The Norinco/Hawk 982 w/ghostring sights has been 100% reliable w/a couple hundred rds of slugs & 00 buck so far. The only problem encountered to date is the ghostring sights loosening under the heavy recoil, easily fixed w/Loctite.
