I just had a baby boy last night. He is healthy and I think we are going to take him home tomorrow. After seeing the little guy it got me to thinking about raising him up right. I have to admit it is not the first time I have thought about it, but what do you think the boy needs to learn? Of course this is a gun forum, so teaching him to shoot, safety, and respect for the wild is up there. I learned most of my shooting and gun handling from dove hunts. Probably start him with his own BB gun in a few years, but any thoughts on the process?
As an aside I took my 2 year old girl out to shoot the 22 a couple weeks ago. She really liked it and kept wanting to shoot it again and again. Admittedly, she was just kinda putting her hands on it, she was not even strong enough to pull the trigger. We were shooting ant nests and the like. She was really into it. Kinda thought that was a good sign. I also took her to my trap line. Trying to expose her to something other than the mall and park that her mom takes her. I also took her fishing last fall and caught few really small bream just to make sure we had something to play with, then threw 'em back.
