Leave it in Kadet mode, and buy the latest and greatest CZ model.:)
Question for you CZ-holics. Aside from the SP-01, what other 9mmP CZs have the full length recoil guide rod.

I could be wrong, and please corret me if I am, but I believe the CZ 85 B has the same full lenghth recoil guide rod. The SP-01 does, as I own one as well as 2 CZ 75s. Hope that helps ya out. Interestion question.

I think the CZ 85 B does have the full lenghth guide rod. The combat is smaller that the B version of the 85, so naturally it would have a shorter guide rod.

I could be wrong about the CZ 85 B, so if anyone's got some info they can enlighten us with that would be great. But that was the only other CZ I could find, besides the 75s & SP-01 that had that type of rod.

Pondering...hmmmm?!?!

Caseless,

WHy don't you state what model(s) you nwo have and
an estimation of how many rounds have been fired through it.
What abmount and what parts are so worn you believe it needs
to be retired?

WHat do you want the next CZ to do in terms of shooting and/or
carry? Same as you have been doing with whatever you have or smaller
for ccw or SP-01 for Competition?

Randall

the 85b and 85C are the same size gun..one has the firing pin block, the other does not. only difference.

the full size CZs with a full length guide rod are the SP01, SP01 tactical, the 75B in .40 and the 75SA in .40. I believe some of the compact do have FLGR.

the SP01 guide rod is delrin, the one guide rod in the .40 is metal.

Plain Jane 75B 9mm. 9,000 factory rounds so far. I'm on the third replacement slide stop. Switching between the Kadet kit and the regular slide is getting tougher, had to file off some metal inside the frame to seat the Kadet kit last week.
Once I get a new CZ 9mm, the current one will serve as a backup match gun and 22LR range gun.

I'll use it in the same role as my 75B. Club matches and IDPA.
I've handled another IDPA shooter's SP-01 Custom model. Excellent ergonomics, as expected from CZ. But I want the 75SA ambi-safety on it and don't need the rail. 75SA doesn't have full length guide rod though.

SP01 shadow has the ext ambi safeties..

or you can order the safeties from CZ or Angus..

is the FLGR a necessity for you?? I am running a 75SA converted to DA/SA for USPSA production and IDPA.

surprised you have gone through slidestops with only 9000 rounds..
are the holes parallel??
also where did you have to fit the Kadet kit..mine hasn't changed at all..

"Do'h!" Thanks eerw. I was only trying to help, looked some stuff up online and it looked like the 85 B had the same full recoild guiding rod as the 75s, SP-01.

Appreciate the info on that! ;)

I know that the 2 above do, because I own them. Wasn't sure about any of the other 9mm models and was try'n to help out.

BTW: It's not bad to try to get every CZ model. I want to also, my friend's got a mad crazy head start on me, but I've got more of a variety of different handguns (as far as I know) than he does. LOL :)

It gets crazy with CZ..they have so many variations..and what you think would make sense..they totally do something different.. I envy your friends and your collections..

That's shorter than usual for lifespan. What weight main spring are your running? CZ has been known to make some frames out of spec that have a habit of eating slide stops.

Switching between the Kadet kit and the regular slide is getting tougher, had to file off some metal inside the frame to seat the Kadet kit last week.
There's a fitting procedure for the Kadet kit. I believe it involves removing metal from the topend and not your frame.

That's true but most of the time the Kadet Kit will fit with no modifications required. I htink the OP is saying since he's installed the Kit the gun has deformed and now that Kit requires fitting. I can't imagine this happening though especially in only 9,000 rounds.

Well

Sounds like he's talking about the installation/removal. I would wager that any damage/deformation occurred during this process rather than from actual shooting.

EDIT: The damage is occurring because the kit was not properly fitted to the gun.

it would be surprising as the part of the kit that fits to the frame does not move during cycling.

tell you the truth..I am really curious as to what is going on with this gun. of the CZs I have had, seen and shot..nothing was that out of spec that it ate slide stops or moved metal from use..

The slide stop thing was beat to death on CZforum.com

-Slide stop life was more like 10k rounds. 15k-20k for some.
-Heavier springs decreased it.
-Lighter springs increased it.
-One person had a gun that ate slide stops, and CZ eventually replaced it. Not saying it is common, just that it's possible.

i'd just like to see the frame..and see where out it spec it is..just curiousity.

I'm in the camp of light recoil springs..hate heavy ones..and how the gun feels..

You could buy the best 75B currenlty made. the Stainless model.
More expensive and harder to get than a regular 75B, but I think well worth it for any 75B fan.

Myself, the 75s are just to heavy for me to carry these days.

The polymer framed P07 DUTY might get my attention when they are available, but time and the actual weight will tell.

Wow, this is actually available in the states now. This is it. Thank you EERW

Initial Kadet kit fitting was done correctly many years/16,000 22LR rounds ago. The fitting issue only started happening a few weeks ago. You guys may be onto something. I am using a 16 Ibs. XPwr Wolff recoil spring. It's the only non-factory part in the gun. I switched the aftermarket SS guide rod back to the stock plastic one after the first slide stop breakage.

CZF, Thundar. the SS version is tempting, but I think I'll go with the newest CZ masterpiece the SP-01 Shadow instead. The extended ambi-safety is the feature I need.
