I've about written off my state as a loss

You know its sad. California use to be a wonderful place to live and raise a family. We had the best weather, the beautiful women ;), and the means to protect ourself in society. (Luckily we still have the beautiful women). Then, slowly but surely the wrong people began getting elected and our rights as human beings started to slowly dissipate before our eyes and I was too young to really notice. Now this place is a wasteland of unemployment, illegal aliens, and violent crime. The people running things are complete dolts and haven't the slightest idea as to what they're doing. Our mayor in Los Angeles is so stupid that he failed the bar exam 10 times. I'll repeat that, HE FAILED THE BAR EXAM 10 TIMES!!! They just recently took the initiative to really go after these gangmembers while still leaving the general population unarmed and defenseless, how quaint. I'm so sick and tired of California I can't wait until I'm able to set up shop in Arizona.

I just got off the phone with Tempe police department and apparently they can get me processed in about 4 days or so because I'm an out of state applicant and they're going to make some exceptions to get me on. God willing, I should be out of this communist state soon. My cousin is going to Oregon to join search and rescue. Can you beat it? haha

I left California and moved home to New Hampshire.

I can CCW a pistol with a normal capacity magazine.
I can buy a Barrett in a FTF with no paperwork.
I can hang an AR15 on the wall.
I can ride a motorcycle without a helmet (I don't)
I can ride in a car without a seatbelt (I don't).
Stoplight cameras are illegal.
Schools are funded locally.

I remember waking up my first morning here and being a free man.

When was the last time you felt the same?

The last line of defense New Yorkers have is the state senate... which with the republican president of the Senate under investigation by the FBI isn't saying much...

Since joining the Army, I doubt as if i'll ever return to NY, there's just too much freedom in other states.

Time to sit back and see what the republicans in the Senate are made of. The package should go before them, i'm guessing, next week.

NY is worse than CA, and its only getting worse. In CA you have rural areas that are not as sympathetic to the anti position, in NY no one cares.

If you love firearms, stay out of NY and IL. CA is one step away from being NY.

Actually, that statement isn't as true as you might think. Take a look at a map and see all the green uninhabitated land north of Westchester county.

I'd dare say 90% of New York is rural and sympathetic to the Second Amendment. However, the other 10% of the state contains 90% of the population.

Similar to CA. We have country ass parts of the state out in the stix where people can get CCWs and such, but in the population centers, you can almost forget about it.

When LA, SD, and Alameda County start handing out shall-issue CCWs, I will eat my words, but right now I dont see that happening anytime in the near future.

I've just got to hold out for a few more years... I'm thinking at max seven. December is the next round of County police exams. So if I'm lucky and I do everything right this time, March of 2008 I'll be in. Until December though, just slog it through my dead end job lol. Sitting here filling out my pistol permit as we speak... Man this is a hassle

Was born and raised in Westchester county, left in 1972, no regrets.
So much of NY is great. Wouldn't it be tremendous if the state could be divided. Everything south of Putnam county including Long Island could go to those who want these gun grabbing laws and madness and everyone else could live in peace with their RKBA in the remainder of the state.

When I moved from NY to GA. The sense of freedom was palatable.

I like NY. Nice climate and terrain, good friends & family. Pity the politics is turning residents into slaves, taxed into oblivion and punished on a whim.

HeyJay,

Former Westchester, NYer. The only thing I miss besides some good friends is the food.

MOVE! You will never letter write any decient changes there. I once sent Nita Lowery a copy of George Orwells Animal Farm in a letter, and I got back a thank you card for the nice gift from a staffer.

Ah, the food.
Homemade maple syrup, slowly distilled over one's home wood stove (as primary heat source).
Hot chicken wings eaten at the very bar where they were invented.
Home...

Been a long time since this I've heard about these bills and was wondering if anyone could give me an update. I grew up in Westchester and my father still lives there and would like to know how these bills turned out. Thanks.
