I currently own two J-frames - a 12-ounce 340 Airlight and a 3-inch Model 60.
340 came with a Hogue Bantam grip - two-finger grip with exposed backstrap.
60 came with Uncle Mike's grip #59007 - a 3-finger grip secured by a side screw, with a thin backstrap. I have not found the name for that grip or a place that sells them. Anybody knows what this grip is called?
My objectives in the order of importance are;
1. To have identical grips on both revolvers, so the 60 can better serve as a practice substitute for 340.
2. To have short, two-finger grips. A 3-finger grip is basically a K-size grip.
3. To have a grip that eases the pain of shooting 357s out of the 340.
I love the feel or the 2-finger Hogue Bantam but shooting 357s with it was painful. It sells in several places, though currently on backorder.
The Uncle Mike's grip fits my hand well. I suspect it will make shooting 340 more comfortable. I like the feel of both grips - with the finger grooves, texture, etc.
I don’t like Uncle Mike's grip’s extra length. I am considering cutting off the bottom part of it so it extends just 1/16 below the heel(?).
The problem is whether it would work and where to buy a second one.
Alternatively, would it help to go with Bantam grip and add something to cover the backstrap? Maybe glue a strip or rubber or something? Some other comparable rubber grips?
Anybody has any ideas or experience to share?
Thanks,
miko
