J frame & Wolf Springs

I just received the shooters pack from Wolf Springs for my new 340SS.

In it I got:
1 Hammer Spring 8lbs.
3 different Rebound Spring (13, 14, 15lb.)

Of you that have changed your springs, which one of the rebound springs did you go with or is the Hammer Spring alone good enough and leave the factory rebound spring alone?

Lastly, where is the rebound spring located on an inclosed or hammerless model J-frame????

I use the 14lb in that kit most often. Just a happy "medium" if you will.

The rebound spring is located in the same place as all other S&Ws, under/inside the trigger rebound slide at the bottom of the inside of the frame, directly behind and connected to the rear of the trigger. Be careful removing and installing it. Do it in an enclosed area with non-carpeted flooring, as you're likely to send it shooting off into space a time or two. Don't force it, or you chance bending the rebound retaining post machined into the frame.

Once you get it aligned just right, and hold your mouth right, close your non-dominant eye, and the stars, moon, sun, and earth are in perfect alignment it will just fall right into place.

Hmmmm. In my K frame, Service Six, Blackhawk, Vaquero, and Taurus Kits I got 3 different hammer springs.

Spring kits are ok for a target or plinking gun.

For a protection gun I only use factory springs. No misfires and the trigger always returns to its proper position.

I have had good results with the spring kits. Last count was four J frames with the Wold springs.
A large clear plastic bag is helpful to contain misguided springs.
Put the firearm in the bag while working on the springs.
Don't overlook the need for a small pin to hold the mainspring in place.
A vise is real nice to work with, frees both hands.

I use the 11lb Wolf rebound spring in all of my S&W revolvers. They work if all the internal parts are polished. I use the Wolf 8.5lb standard tension hammer spring in the J frames. In the larger frame S&W revolvers I use the Wolf standard power mainspring.

I put in the 14lb. rebound spring and the 8lb hammer spring and let me tell you it's like night to day difference. I loaded it up with some empty rounds with fresh primers to make sure the pin hit hard enough and it does. Tomorrow I will be going out to the range to test some different tpyes of ammo. I love this gun. BTW It's a 340 SS with a 305 crimson trace laser grip on it. I beleive it is the BEST for CCW!!! JMHO

In general a rebound or trigger return spring as other revolvers call them will not affect the function of your revolver. The hammer spring is what will make or break you.

That being the case, I always go for the lightest trigger return spring available.

I've fired nearly a thousand rounds through a 642 with 8# hammer 14# rebound Wolf Springs with no trouble or even single lightstrike. Much better trigger pull than stock.
