The guardian Angels formed around 1977; the S&W M60 hit the market in 1965. The idea that the M60 was an LEO only firearm is untrue. I bought a used one around 1971-72. If memory serves they were a little pricey at the time, and not terribly common because of relatively low production numbers but, at no time restricted to LEs only.
