Am breaking in a Bushmaster carbine. The trigger is lawyer-sanctioned, running between 8 and 9 pounds with creep and not exactly a pleasure to use. I am from the "decent sights/decent trigger" school and thinking of installing a retrofit trigger kit to straighten this out.

Brownell's has the Jard adjustable and non-adjustable kits. they also make reference to the need to do additional "fitting" if the reciever has a sear block.

Does anyone have some experience with installing/using these?

Thanks.

I've helped two friends install them in "Stinger Arms" lowers made by Mega Machine. (Nice lowers, BTW.) I believe the sear block refers to the older Colts, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

One was the 3 lb. put in a varmint type rifle, the other was the 4.5 lb. in a 16" carbine. The 3 lb. went in without incident and is gorgeous. The 4.5 lb. trigger was about .002" too wide to fit through the hole in the bottom of FCG well. The hole was within specs, the trigger was just too big. I surface ground it down, refinished it with the Brownells baking laquer and it too is a dream to shoot with.

Nice pieces, though adjusting the overtravel can take a few minutes due to taking out the hammer for each adjustment. All of the other adjustments can be made without dissassembly of the FCG. It makes for a very nice trigger and I recommend them highly (even with the fitting issue).

The Rock River Arms trigger is a decent two-stage trigger at a fair price. It is also easy to install. There are probably better triggers if you have the budget for them; but it represents a good value.

Fair warning though, many match triggers sacrifice some reliability for the better trigger.
