Jeff Cooper's health

I read a month, or two, ago that he was having health problems. Hope he gets back to snuff soon.

Kevin

p.s. can you imagine his poor Doctors:evil:

Sadly this is the first time I am hearing about the good Colonels health problems.

But it comes as no big surprise. Like all of us he isn't getting any younger. One day he too will join shooting greats like, Jordan, Keith, Topperwain (sp), and a host of others.

But in the interim I wish him and his family best wishes and a speedy recovery.

Rob

I know Jeff and consider him a friend, and you must remember he's in his 80s, and he has had a rather colorful life. One doesn't get to be colorful without putting some mileage on his body. The guy has been all over the world, packing as much living into one life as any two or three other guys I know. He's outlived Bill Jordan, Charley Askins and Skeeter Skelton.

I saw him last at the SHOT Show and at the NRA show, and he wasn't getting around too well, but his mind is still sharp, so far as I could tell.

I spoke with his wife not too long ago. She didn't come right out and say what the immediate problem is, but she did say that he's in some pain, relatively weak (for a strong man), and not up to doing much writing these days.

Sadly, I think the handwriting is on the wall. By all means, say prayers.

I recall hearing Tom Gresham say on his radio show a few weeks ago, when discussing Masood Ayood visiting the Colonel, that the Colonel had been in very poor health. He did not elaborate, but he seemed to suggest that the Colonel was not doing well.

I enjoy Cooper's column in the back of Guns & Ammo, even when I make fun of it. He is a real character, and I just love folks like that.

Well, I have an immense amount of respect for Colonel Cooper, but as mentioned, he is in his 80's. I hate to say it, but if you fall into poor health at that age, you never really get "back up to snuff" as sad as that is. When Colonel Cooper goes, and I hope its not soon, it will be sad for younger guys like me (I am 34). He is the last guy to represent that old school of gun writers like Keith and Shelton and the rest, and really is the only living link that guys like me have back to more interesting, less politically correct days. Semper Fi, Colonel.
