I live in New Jersey and JHP rounds are illegal for carry. They are O.K. for target shooting but if a person is found carrying them, the fines are quite stiff.

I have a Florida CCW permit and I do sometimes carry there, but I always wondered whether Florida has any restrictions on bullets like N.J. I looked on packing.org and found nothing on this. Any FL THRfolk know the regs who can educate me? Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Naw... Florida is part of the great US of A. We don't have ridiculous restrictions of that sort.

All I carry are JHP. Federal Hydrashok in .45 are my round of choice. Good stuff.

Unlike NJ, if you should be unfortunately enough to have to use your firearm in self defense, we WANT you to use the ammunition that is safer and more effective.

Nothing but the best baby! :)

AFAIK, New Jersey is probably the ONLY state with such a restriction, but I may be wrong there. Certainly if there are more states with such rules, you could count them on one hand.

Hollow points

I've been carrying here for a long time now and as far as I can remember I've never even owned anything but hollow points for any of my guns except .22's. Hollow points are much more effective and safer too. Less chance of over penetration.

NeverAgain26 if your carry caliber in Jersey is a 45 acp , 40 S&W or 9mm Federal has recently come out with what they call the EFMJ , it is suppose to be an expanding full metal jacket bullet .

Might want to check it out .

BigO01: I know one person in my county NJ who has a Carry Permit and it isn't me:cuss:

I do go armed when I am working in my office in the barn on the edge of my property late at night and I am loaded with JHP. As long as I am on my own property, I am fine.

Lone-Gunman: O.K., what is the difference?
