Hey all,

I moved to Virginia and havent gotten around to applying for my carry permit yet. I still have my Florida non-resident CCW permit and was wondering if it is still active if I changed states. I am leaning towards a "no." But I figured I would ask. Just thinking outside the box until I get the paperwork for the Virginia Permit.

The Florida license was attached to a New Jersey address. The license has not expired yet either.

Any help if I am still covered?

Thanks guys.

Curious about that myself. I moved from VA to KY and am operating under my non-res FL permit until the 6 month time constraint is up so I can get my KY permit.

If there's any doubt AT ALL, you can still open carry in VA.

BTW Daniel, thanks for the link. I updated my address using their website.

I'm just kind of curious. Why ask here instead of contacting the Licensing Division of the Florida Department of Agriculture? They issue the license and could tell you exactly what to do.

Generally, if you have any kind of a state license for anything and you move, you have a certain amount of time in which to change your address; but you also have to do it within that period of time. So you'll probably want to attend to that as soon as you can.

IME, it's usually pretty easy to deal with the state licensing people. When I moved last, I only had an Arizona CCW, and I sent the DPS an email asking how to change my address on the license. I got a relpy the next day telling me what I needed to do, and I did it. Then when I applied for a Florida CCW I had a question about the application. I sent an email to the Florida folks and got my answer.

IME it's almost always best to go to the source.
