on line petitions mean nothing. just like the ones that ae supposedly headed to a congessman or senator. to many ways for them to be altered. sorry. i would be happy to sign a hard copy though.

Petitions like this one online work. Sign the petition if you can. I just did and I hope they commision the stamp

I thought about it until I read the part in the petition about having a national holiday in his honor.

Sorry, I don't believe he did anything even remotely deserving of a national holiday. If it was just for a stamp, I'd sign. For a holiday, never.

This post "worked" in me getting out my DVD of "American Gunmaker, The John M. Browning Story" last night. I copied it onto my ZUNE so I can take it with me. If you haven't seen the DVD, it's a great one. Should be in every gun nuts collection.

I agree with the posters who feel a national holiday is either undeserving or unlikely. I fully feel the man deserves a postage stamp.

As for whether such online petitions have value, there is currently an online petition to open-carry in Texas. There are over 53,000 vitual signatures on the pertition. In fact, there is a link to the petition on the NRA website. So, I hardly feel it is meaningless.

Here's the link to Texas Open Carry...incidentally, both petitions are on the petitions.com website.

Well, I don't know whether they work or not. Those posters that are saying that they don't, what do you base your comments on? What are your fact sources. If they don't work, why would the NRA waste their (and our) time messing with it then?
