Johnson Paste Wax

Johnson Paste Wax contains carnauba wax and supposedly can be used as a hard cast lead bullet lube.

I read in threads elsewhere where shooters shooting moderate level cast bullet loads out of C&R's use johnson paste wax as a lube or a component of their lubes for these loads and seem to be happy with it.

What the above two posters said. When I was a younger man living in a coastal community in Alaska, we coated our boat guns with johnson paste wax. We coated all exterior surfaces and put a good oiling in the bore and internal workings.
We also had a "secret" bullet lube recipe with paste wax, bees wax, graphite powder and some light oil.

Just SOP for me. When I clean my guns after Deer Season / quail / turkey season, and put them away until next year, I give thema coat of Johnsons Paste wax. I have used it for years to protect my table saw table, my jointer table, etc. Lately, though, my guns are at the range if they are not in the field. I still use it anyway.

I was reading the posting about Guns Rusting & went out and bought a can. Been wondering what else to use it for.

Do you wax the stocks as well? I used Murphy's to clean the stock & then rubbed in some Johnson's.

I have been using it for 40 years or so for rust protection on blued guns, especially CCW guns, wood gun stocks, table saw table, band saw table, jig saw table, drill press table, circular saw blades & hand saw blades to keep them from gumming up, an extensive WWII military Knife collection, and the floor when it needs waxing.

Have also used it on the fiberglass shower stall to stop lime spots & mildew with good results. :D

I use it on my shotgun barrels sometimes, but I've mostly switched over to Renaissance Wax.

I use it to protect cast iron surfaces on woordworking tools from rusting... also sometimes as a friction finish on turnings.

Just Jim, what part of the cat did he wax or did he wax the whole cat? Pardon me, i wax philosophical. (sorry, i couldn't help myself).

I first heard of Johnson Paste Wax in a company spec for pouring concrete. The specification required that the inside of the forms receive a coat of this stuff before the concrete was poured. I thought "what is this stuff? A wax for pouring concrete?"

I read about this stuff here on THR and tried it for myself. I tried it on one of my black phosphate finished guns, and it's worked well so far. I like it because I don't have to wipe the gun down with an oily rag every time I handle it. I'm going to try it on a second gun of mine next time I clean it.

Just waxed his paws so the cat can't walk on the linoleum floors, kinda looked like a rug when you went over there.

Speaking of Brazillions

I told my wife there had been an earthquake in South America and three Brazillians were killed.

She said "WOW" thats a lot ,thats more than a gazillion.

On my safe

If your safe is finished with a smooth paint job, like that of a car, wax keeps it looking nice and very easy to clean/dust.
