That's a great link. Never seen it before ...

As someone posted above, I have always wanted a WWII era Marine Corps issue BAR, not only impractical, nearly impossible.
There are Semi auto repro versions around for about $3,000...a little less impossible, but still nor practical.

If you want it enough and can get one, go for it. Life is short, and this ain't the dress rehearsal.

pax,

I think the world of you. I usually do my best to offer encouragement and support when I can (and keep my mouth shut when i can't). But this time...

GET OVER IT!

lpl/nc ...sorry 8^(

Anyone else ever get an impossible-to-satisfy hankering for an impractical gun?

Yep, that is cool. I'd be looking to have a wad of cash on hand for your next meet with said owner, or to buy/build yourself a "one-up" on that drool piece!

oh common Pax, post a salivating description like that and then add a dead link.
Hey, so she messed up on the link.... that's no reason to call her common.

Mistakes can happen.

Geez.....

:D

It's really not THAT impractical. If you got a belt-side style holster, it'd fit just fine (though it might dig into your sides :p). 10mm ain't cheap, but it's not like it's an incredibly hard-to-get caliber.

Like others have said, get a custom engraved .45 in black stainless with custom grips, a coffin case, and some true silver bullets and you're all set. But if you ever do use it for defense, expect the cop taking it to give you some funny looks. :)

That gun was so impractical and silly, that I wrote a lengthy criticism of the feature to my friends Rich Lucibella and Denny Hansen, publisher and chief editor of S.W.A.T..

Rich responded to me and Denny:
Scroom. Luci likes it! :)

Have fun, Pax. Looks like fun, if not an entirely practical item for the real world.

You could change that spike into a harpoon, so you can shoot Aquaman if need be...

Ooo. Queequeg's gun, or...what he would have carried if they had autos then. That'd be a project. Queequeg was one of the first serious literary bada**es of the modern sort. :D

Put scrimshaw grips on it and you'll be set! :)

Wacki...

other than storage and a trailer hitch... what's impractical about that?

I heartily endorse 'friends with cannons.'

;)

Pax, we could likely make you something quite quite quite similar...

Only I'd insist on .45, and I'd figure out a way to stick a shorty bayonet on the bottom of the mag itself... If you're gonna hurt yourself, may as well do it in a big way.

I am afraid my impractical want is a little more mundane.

I have been wanting one of the Ruger hand cannons. The Redhawks in .480 with the 2in barrels. I would never need it and rarely shoot it but it is very enticing.

Yeah. I want a S&W .500. Not the one with the semi-manageable barrel, the one where if you slung it the muzzle would hang down below your knee. The one that wouldn't be much fun to shoot, completely impractical to carry, expensive to feed...yeah, I want one.

I say if you like it get one
mine's not that impractical but I like to shoot it anyway:

I say if you like it get one
