Juba the Iraqi sniper- video

Here is a link to a video from the Islamic Army in Iraq, of a sniper called Juba (the Americans name for the sniper) killing and wounding our soldiers. It is a propaganda film, so it has to be taken with a grain of salt. He is contributed with killing 154 Americans, and wounding 45. I very much doubt those numbers since one can see in the video that most of the soldiers live due to their body armor, and it hard to tell if it was a clean shot since the camera does not stay on the victum. Nevertheless, it is still sad to see so many soldiers are easy prey for two people who can disappear quickly after the shooting. Wikipedia has an interesting article on Juba.

Here is a video that shows why body armor is so important to soliders. Listen to the voices of the sniper and his spotter who are repeating some kind of chant. Well it doesn't help since the solider they shot captures them shortly afterwards.

From what I'd heard of "Juba", he, or the group of snipers using the same MO, are very, VERY good with what they believe is a Dragunov. Good enough to hit US troops through gaps in their body armor from hundreds of yards off, one having his spine blown out as such. Also never takes a second shot, so there's no way to find him/them before they're gone.

There was stuff about "Juba" on armytimes a while back.

I believe alot of the stories one reads on the Juba sniper(s) are over blown by US soliders reports. Creating mythical enemy soliders, or snipers is very common in war. But he is a very good shot, and knows enough not too take a second shot when it is very tempting.

If it is just one person, he must be Bosnian or Western convert?

Maybe foreign team that got Western training?

Probably several people's stories combined to create a mythical "Super Sniper of Allah".

Sniper propaganda was very successful for the Russians and Germans....

Well, it's certainly stressful on the poor troops, morale-wise, having to worry that anytime they poke their head out of a hatch or climb out of a humvee downtown, they could get popped in the neck or a body-armor gap.

Which is probably the intent of it all...

That pissed me off. :banghead:

Emotions aside-

Whoever he is, He IS good. I doubt hes good enough to avoid a round from an M-21 or M-24 forever.

Thats all ive got to say about that.

is it that hard to believe some of the natives actually know how to shoot straight or something?

Dang it, I cannot view this video for some reason. It always starts buffering and then it just stops in its tracks before the video ever starts playing. I dunno it bothers me but it doesn't. We all know snipers are effective in certain situations. So, IMO the best way to fight a sniper is to send another sniper after him, track him, whatever, course it is a little more difficult in urban areas.

Yeah, but the point is he isn't good. They're just a bunch of him roaming around under one name. We've probably killed JUBA a hundred times over.

Or a member of the Republican Guard.

Remember that before the first gulf war Saddam had the 4th largest army in the world ... and the elites where actually well trained soldiers, not just untrained punks with guns.

Somehow I can't bring myself to watch the video :(

well, just remember...........

There are a few truely professional snipers on our side and they are working to keep America safe and free. I'd pit them against those creeps anyday....anynight.

I agree. There is no way to confirm that there is one "Juba" making all these shots. There could be, but it is much more likely that it is propaganda. Anyway, RIP to those heroes.

Not interested in watching our troops get shot via some piece of enemy propaganda.

Why? The one I watched was rather funny. I doubt they will show it to Juba Jr. for training purposes as it seems rather, well, it doesn't do their cause any good. The shot, the guy drops, they praise Allah, and continue to praise Allah even as the Infidel gets back up. I say chalk another one up for the good guys and time to die you camel flea infested sack of [beep].

I for one found it difficult to watch our soliders and marines being shot down. Many seem to have survived but the threat needs to be removed. Only once in the video did he fire twice from the same location. Overwatch by our own snipers is what is needed.

Truly disgusting. I can't stand to watch our troops getting picked off like that. Nothing would make me happier than to see whoever is shooting our boys have the favor returned upon themselves. :fire:

I believe the shirt says "571 grains of deplomacy"

Proof that armed citizens can put up a decent fight against government forces with much better weapons & training.

The problem is that "he" never takes a second shot, so trying to find and shoot back is rather difficult.

Pure propaganda piece... I've now watched the first clip and it is obviously a mix of several different people shooting. You can also see that the shots don't always have effect. There is one guy he smacks right in the SAPI who manages to stay on his feet even. There is also a shot he takes at a HMMWV gunner where he clearly misses (you can see the round impact the wall above and behind the gunner) but the gunner drops behind his armor plate for cover, so it appears as though he got hit. Then there is the two shot where he takes another shot at two guys trying to recover a downed American where he hits a tree...

If that is the highlight reel then the jabus are going to run out of luck sooner rather than later. Good luck to the soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen doing the hunting.

SilentStalker,

download it from the link i posted, it should allow you to view it properly.

I remember a year ago or so there was this article about how Israelis figured that the Palestinians had a European sniper working for them. It was deduced that he was smuggled in through a network of tunnels, and everyone agreed that the gun is probably a dragunov, because it sounded so fierce.

Later they caught this super-sniper, and he was just a dude with a Mosin. One guy with a 100-year old rifle pinned down entire squards for hours, elicited an entire mythos about himself, etc.

It really isn't about the rifle, I guess, is what I learned.
