Sudden surge of ammo at (my) Walmart!

I wish mine had Federal bulk .22...I have winchester, as that's what they primarily carry.

They do offer CCI down in my neck of the woods, but it's a bit pricey for paper-punching. Thankfully RWS is off the shelves...it took a bit of a community effort to do that (shooters and range owners together since RWS is steel jacketed, thus innapropriate for indoor range shooting, which is nearly all there is in this area)...we did Suggest Remington as an alternate brand., but getting hollowpoints is a wonderful suprise.

I would much prefer a selection of 125 and 158 gr 357 and 38spl ammo at Walmart. Less lead cuts the cost. I don't recall Walmart ever carrying 158 gr loadings for 357 mag. A while back I found some old PMC 357 mag ammo in a harware store--158 gr JSP's priced right. It was old stock.

I've noticed .44 magnum becoming more available here recently at Walmart....both Remington 180g JSP & Winchester Western 240g JSP. Interestingly.....NO .44 special.....That's a round I never see at WM.

you just came in on the stocking day, or right after the truck arrived and before the LGS owners arrived to stock their shelves and charge $5 more.

My Walmart (S Arizona)had four boxes of 45ACP yesterday..it has been months since I have seen it there

I generally pick up a box or two every other week. Last time in I noticed that the shelves were definitely more thoroughly stocked than they have been in awhile.

I talked to my buddy, the gun counter guy (he pissed off an assistant manager so he's in toys now) and he explained how some of it works, like many days when they get in a large load of fresh ammo, they actually have 'guys' and usually the same ones, some of whom own smaller stores selling ammo, lined up and waiting as it comes off the truck, he figures that they got somebody tipping them off when the warehouse gets a load in. He also told me the times and days they get a load in and restock (after 9pm) but if it's a tuesday or thursday (certain ones of the month) ask the guy to check the computer and go in back and grab it.

Got a mega pack of 9mm the other day, he said that they literally have over 250k rounds on back order just from the local warehouse

I go in the same day of the week (Friday) at about the same time (6PM) every trip.

Also, I've read similar posts like this one on other forums within the last couple of days so I'm inclined to think that it's not just an isolated incident.

And if you want to be a hoader, do what I do, and just buy an additional box of whatever you shoot every time you see it on the shelf, and eventually you look in your closet and go, WOW! I won't have to buy ammo for a year if I don't want to!

That's how it goes. Box by box, for a long time I could not go into W-M without buying some type of 22LR, and if it was on sale, motor oil. I also just ran out of motor oil before moving, using up my stockpile over the course of a year.

That's what I do. Buy an extra box.

It's piled up over time, and I know I'm not depriving some other shooter.
