I have a Remington 700 that i bought without sights . My concern is will it be structurally sound with filler/plug screws in the iron sight holes? Or about how much would another set of iron sights run me? I'm sure it's all been asked before, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!!

No structural difference between plug screws and sight mounting screws. Or no screws. There are thousands of rifles sporting plug screws or empty holes out there. No worry, whatever looks better to you.

Filler screws don't have to be very long. Mine are about 1/8". I went to my LGS and the guy took out a tray of screws, tried them until he had the correct ones. Didn't charge me a thing.

The screw holes with or without the wee plugs do not affect anything.
The cost of new irons depends on what you buy. William's Gun sights is your friend though. High end target kit as well as lower end stuff for reasonable prices. Under $100 for the rear peep sights.

IMHO, plug screws look just fine. Some folks try to fill the holes with goop of some kind, or weld, but usually end up with a mess that looks bad and can't be removed if anyone wants to put the old sights back on.

The holes don't affect the strength of the barrel in any way, and plugging them or filling them in won't make any difference at all.
