Hey guys, been a while since i posted last. I am looking for a new toy one that would be used primarily for range/ccw. I have looked and can't really find anything. I tried out the PX4 and it seemed just okay, but didn't like it at all in the compact, also I haven't been hearing the best of things about it lately. I would like to have an exposed hammer, but would be willing to lose it for a decocker or a safety. Also it must fit my hand, I have tiny hands and so its a little hard to find a well fitting gun. I would also prefer if it were in a 45. I have tried .40 and found it a little too snappy. My wife is also putting the budget at around 600 I can go a little over though. I have tried the ruger sp101 and while it was fun, I just couldn't hit the broad side of a barn  . I do much better with autoloaders. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I do appreciate any help. Thanks all

Haven't seen them in any of the local stores, plus its really hard to try and rent anything around here. The only place to do it is about 1 1/2 hrs. away. Idaho may be gun friendly but no one takes an initiative here.

Dunno where your at Brutz, but I live in Kellogg ID, and no, not much for rentals here, There is a place in postfalls....

1911s, decent ones, with decent sights, can be had for under $600, fit smaller hands great, shoot great. Mil-spec replicas can be had for under $400, .22 conversions are easily available as are magazines and accessories. Upgrades like triggers, hammers grips blah blah blah. You get the picture, rent one, shoot one it will shoot as good if not better than anything else... maybe a used SIG P220 might fit your hand. You really should shoot a 1911 in 9mm Oh My GAWD! I would add a little to the price range and get an STI Spartan for around $630.

I have found the Browning Hi-Power to be emminently suitable for those of us with smaller hands. Perfect for range use and can also be used in a CCW role. If something smaller is desired, then maybe consider the CZ P-01. A very similar grip to the Hi-Power, but with a shorter slide assembly, exposed hammer, and a decocker. Fourteen rounds of 9mm. in a very nice package. Still looking for something even smaller? The Ruger SR9c is perfect for small hands, with a thumb safety, reversible backstrap, and has a ten round magazine with a grip extension.
