Just Maybe the Best BUG/Mousegun Ever

Another grip option are the ones made by Jeff at sigpower.com. https://www.collectors-society-slabs.com/shoppingcart/categories/SIG-P238-Grips-*ORDER-/ Mine are smooths but he makes checkered. These grips are outstanding and masterfully crafted. He has switched to a new coating, permanently I believe, that you see below that offer a very complimentary color match to the gun. The original ones were more silvery and these are more gray. You can see the more silvery old ones on the site. I was also happy with the silvery ones, but the gray toned really match the gun well. They are also available in black and two-toned. $45 for the smooths is a steal. Jeff is also top notch to deal with.

Sorry about the blurry photo.

Thanks for the link to the ambi safety!
Id also like to make a few comments about the gun as i get to know it.
The slide is almost an exact copy of how a 1911 is made,i took mine all the way down for cleaning as its a ccw gun for reliability.
Secondly if you have any feed issue its definitely the mag, just little adjustments can make a big impact on such a small gun.Mine was barely activating the slide stop on the last round,a quick adjustment on the follower fixed that. But it caused it to stop feeding hollow points,so that took some lip adjustments and all is well once again.
The gun didn't need these adjustments,i wanted them done. But it shows just how finicky a small gun can be.
I don't see how some have said the safety doesn't have a positive solid feel when manipulating it.Sig may have changed something along the way,but mine is very tight compared to my 1911.Also i found out by accident that if you take the slide off the frame and push the saftey lever past its engagement point the spring and pin will be released from underneath and can be a pita to get back in.

I also checked Metalforms site for Mustang mags and they were out of stok but also in the $30 range now.

I forgot to add that recoil is very light imo, even more so than my full sized all steel 1911.Im comparing the brutality and controllability of the recoil.
Ive heard of people complain about recoil in the LCP and P3AT and this gun doesn't have that issue.

I like Sigs, even though I have never shot one. Would like to get at least one: a .22lr Mosquito is on my "wish list". I would look seriously at a P239 if I didn't already own a Ruger P95 that satisfies my needs.
One thing turns me off on the P238 is that it is S/A. I FIRMLY believe in D/A first shot or DAO in defense guns. I had a Llama 380 in the mid 70's that I hated. I liked the "mini 1911" look, but I did not like or trust carrying it cocked and locked. I actually carried it "chamber empty". I never had any malfunctons with it (fmj's only). I sold it to get a S&W 2" Airweight Bodyguard that I confidently carried off duty for years.

Robo9mm you better think twice about the sig mosquito I have heard from many people they are very picky about ammo and are prone to becoming jam-o-matics. Get you a taurus 970 like I did. :) Or a ruger.

I was so close to buying a p238 but whimped out because of the cost and got the ruger lcp instead. I don't regret it, but man that p238 is a nicer, better looking gun. Oh well, guess I need both.

For ccw , I've grown very fond of my Kel Tec PF9, I can almost buy 2 Kel Tecs for the price of a P238. My PF9 is , of course , in my favorite caliber (9mm), and very concealable. It barely fits in a pocket, so I may get a K/T P3AT(oh darn) even though it is a little small in my hand, so I'll try adding a finger rest. DAO and Crimson Trace grips available, too.
As far as the Sig Mosquito goes, it wouldn't bother me to have to get another Ruger 22 5.5" bull barrel auto instead of the Sig. I sold my first Ruger 22 many years ago and regret it now.

I've shot with guys who work for Sig and they openly admit the Mosquitto is an embarrassment. Supposedly it isn't even built by Sig. I really like the Ruger Mk I and II. The Mk III added a mag safety which makes it even more of a pain to field strip.

The Mosquito is definitely NOT built by Sig.

To stay on topic, I also have a P238 Nitron with night sights. Pretty nice although mine shot way left and high, still shoots way high, may talk to Sig about it and send back if needed.
