My dad is doing some liason work between the .gov and the Kuwaitis. He said I could share this with the group... Just in case you can't tell from this, he's a dyed-in-the-wool 1911 man. (What other kind of man is there? :neener: )

I went shooting with a Kuwaiti guy that we work with on saturday. He took us to a range that was put together by about 90 retired and active Kuwaiti officers and Special Forces types. It is a very nice range. It has several ranges inside, we used a 50 meter rifle range and a 25 meter pistol range. I got to shoot a Steyr assault weapon. It was a .223 same as M-16. Was a pretty cool gun, but I didn't like the trigger. It did shoot well though and had a built in scope, it ejected by your cheek and the magazine plugged in by your armpit. I'll send you my targets.

I also got to shoot a 223 sniper rifle, and a Kuwaiti General let me shoot his 308 rifle, which was very nice.

I shot several pistols, an H&K 45, S&W 45 didn't like it grip didnt fit me and I ejected the magazine on the 3rd round, Glock 45, 40, and 9mm I really don't like Glocks they bite my trigger finger, but did get get good groups with them. I also shot a Sig Sauer? 45 and it was pretty nice, also a Taurus 45 didn't like it, too small a grip. And they were all double-action. I hate double action autos. The H&K was different, it fit pretty well and the trigger throw isn't 1.5 inches like the rest of all the double actions I'v tried. But, they didn't have a 1911 to shoot.

They also have a simulator range where you can practice against moving targets. I found out I sucked against moving stuff. But I also noticed that I could not see the sights on the gun. They invited us to come back and try their tactical range where they rig it up with rooms and hostages and such. I don't know if we can get back over there for that or not.
