I have a birthday coming up on the 30th, and decided to buy myself a present. I had some gift cards that totaled up to $150.00, and I was toying with the idea of buying an el-cheapo .22 plinker revolver - actually one of those Heritage Rough Rider jobbies.
(Honestly I just wasn't feeling good about the Rough Rider. I kept trying to convince myself that it was a good idea, but then I'd find a picture of one and the finish would put me in mind of a pot-metal cap gun I had as a kid. They may be just fine, but I just like pretty guns!)
Anyway, I just keep thinking about how much I enjoy shooting my cap and ball 1860 Army clone.
Today at work I was browsing the web while eating lunch, and went on to Cabelas' site. I looked at another 1860 Army that they had on sale for $189.95, but really wanted something different. I then saw that they had a 1858 Remington New Army for the same price.
I thought about it, and thought about the Rough Rider, and made a deal with SWMBO. I handed over the $150.00 in gift cards to her, and then went on line to Cabelas and put the Remington in my cart. I then noticed that they were offering a $30.00 discount on orders over $150.00, so I signed up for the discount and got the codes, which they promptly e-mailed to me, and applied them to the order.
Bottom line is I have the Remington New Army on the way, including shipping, for a grand total of $179.00!
Should get it on Wednesday. I'm pumped!
