Now you need a CZ .22 to go with it. These days many people feel that they're offering the best price/performance ratio in that market. Besides, one CZ in the safe whines & makes a terrible racket. Put the second one in, and they just snuggle up in the dark and breed more.

Thanks CB900F, I'll have to do that.. LOL

agtman,
I also like a Masuer action.
As for the control feed vs. push feed debate, it is a non issue for me where I live and hunt.
I have owned Masuers, and Mauser pattern rifles and they have worked wonderfully.
I also used a M24 ( Remington 700 ) in a hot, dry, sandy and dirty place in the world while working for my Uncle Sam... and lived to tell the tale... LOL

It does seem strange or hard to accept when a company goes from a design that they have used for years and one that works to a new and different one.
But as I said it is really a non issue to me I like 'em both.

Damn fine rifle and like others said, great shooting! Anyone that can keep three touching off hand in a hunting rifle with iron sights at fifty yds knows their way around a trigger!

For simple deer hunting, as opposed to hunting DG in Africa, you're right, push-feed (PF) v. controlled-feed (CF) is generally a non-issue. That wasn't really my concern.

CZ, historically like BRNO, has always been a maker of old-school Mauser CF actions on all their centerfire rifles, which have enjoyed a great reputation and following worldwide. This PF-design is a change for them.

"Different" doesn't always mean "better." It usually means cheaper, as in cost-to-produce and, unfortunately sometimes, in quality.

Hopefully that's not the case with the 557, as the model does interest me.

Yes, be careful after buying that first one else you'll end up with more CZs and less money in your pocket!

527s, of which the middle one is my favorite to shoot.

550s, which can work with or without a scope.

And rimfires are probably the most addictive of all...

And they can lead to BRNOs which are a problem for some people...

Or you could become afflicted with their pistols...

Could go on but I hope you see the danger... :D

Those are some fine rifles and a pistol as well. I really like the 537 series and those 550FS. Thanks for sharing.

.375 Thanks. The knife is a Universal from the 1890's to 19 teens. I replaced the broken handle with antler and still use it as a hunting and camp knife. I have a closer view of it and two other older knives in the THR knife picture thread...

Werndi, Thanks. I do most of shooting offhand so lots of practice, wish I shot that well everytime... LOL

agtman,
yep it was a cost cutting issue with CZ. Keep your eye out for one to look at ,and if you ever want a more detailed review or have questions, please feel free to ask.

Having had ZKK 602 & 550 I have to say they're ok. The 557 is more advanced design than 550 ie less expensive to manufacture.
