Hi all -
I have a glock 19 that is too big for EDC for me, especially when it gets warmer out. I want something that I can pocket carry, but that will most often go iwb in a small leather/kydex holster. These requirements keep me from getting a glock 26, because I know it will end up being too big for decent pocket carry when I 'need' to pocket carry. I want to be able to take my shirt off in the summer without then open carrying. :D That leaves me with few other options, I don't want a .380, I would like 9mm or even .38 if I went the revolver route, which is still a possibility for me. I'd go airweight or LCR if I was to get a revolver. They just seem as fat as a glock, and I worry it won't completely disappear like I want it to.
That leaves me to a PM9 or a CM9, because I don't want a keltec gun. What are your thoughts on these firearms? I think it would be a CM9, as long as I could get night sights on it. I can't find one in town to look at, I saw a CM45 today that was pretty sweet, however. That gives me an idea for trigger pull, etc. I want night sights, so I would buy the trijicons from Kahr - then how do I get them installed? I know the front is easy, but I would want both front and rear. I've read that 'nobody' will put them on for me... so can I send the slide to the factory and have them install night sights or what?? Should I consider a revolver? Lastly, are there any options I am overlooking? No PPS, no LC9, too big.

Thanks in advance for the input, any and all -
Scott

The pm9 isn't that much smaller than a g26. In fact I really wouldn't consider it a pocket gun at all unless you wear really baggy clothes with deep pockets.

I've carried a CM9 for the last 3 months and it is by far my favorite concealed carry option.

Send the slide back to Kahr, they'll press in the new rear sight without destroying the slide finish for $60.

That might be true when speaking of height, But I'm pretty sure that the width of the Kahr is a lot less than the G26.

That is why they advertise, "Thin is Beautiful"

the pm9 is .900 wide while the g 26 is 1.180 wide. thats a difference of .280. a good amount more than 1/4 inch. that is pretty substantial thickness when carrying iwb or in the pocket. on the lcr or airweight, the cylinder is fat but the rest of the gun is really thin. for me, my airweight is carried well iwb appendix position. the shape and curves of the revolver help out for this.

Do this unless you have a really sturdy sight pusher. That rear sight is tight!

The Kahr PM-9 is truly a compact carry pistol ad significantly narrower than a Glock-26 or any other wide bodied pistol. You trade off for 7 round capability (6+1 in chamber). I carry mine in a pocket holster and it is my constant companion. Previously I carried a Glock-36 but found that I could not conceal it reliably at all times.

I have a G26 that I can PC in cargo shorts and cargo pants. But, I can't always wear them everywhere I go and would like to step it up from a .380 to 9mm on those occasions. I have been at an on going tug-o'-war recently over getting a CM9 or PF9 to go between my G26 and Elsiepea when my attire dictates one over the other.

Wow thanks for the visual, that's an awesome comparison of the two. And I'm going from a 19 so.. wow this thing will disappear IWB for me, and it makes it clear how much bigger the 26 is than this CM9.
I got to see one today(!), I finally found a store that has one and I liked what I saw with the CM9. Put it in my pocket and it did seem pretty small, but you could tell something was in my pocket.... of course. That was what I was expecting. Should do well in summer shorts front, I would think. I plan on a pj holster for the iwb time, where it will spend most of it's time. Thoughts?

Thanks again!

Ludicrous.
The Kahr is far shorter, thinner and lighter than the G26.
See the diagram above.
I am 5"9, 155 lbs and way too old to wear baggy/draggies.
The Kahr PM9/CM9 is a true pocket pistol.
The Glock-anything is not.

I have a 19,LCR and a CM9. I carry all three regularly. I find the 19 great ocassionally appendix carry but normally its my IWB @ 4 o clock even under a light t shirt when not at work. I carry my CM9 and my LCR in the appendix position and it disappears. In a smart carry either dissapear and often times I carry my 19 this way too. I dont find either perfect for pocket carry. Both work and fit in most pockets. I find the LCR is easier to draw from a pocket than the CM9. I find both easy to shoot.

I bought a CM9 with much the same thoughts as you. I'm fine with it for IWB, but have yet to find a pair of pants I can really pocket it in. With the pocket holster I have it ends up looking like a huge late 90's PDA-kinda rediculous. Cargo pockets would work, but fairly limiting for my lifestyle. Take it for what it's worth, YMMV. I know that many pocket theirs, but I can't.

As far as the IWB carry, I tried an all kydex, and it didn't work for me. I ended up with either the butt or the muzzle of the gun digging into me. I think I don't have enough padding to make it work. Here's what I am currently doing.

ETA: I strongly recommend borrowing or renting a Kahr before you buy one. The trigger is MUCH different than your Glock.

I have a pm9 and have carried it quite a lot. I could pocket carry if I wanted to but I don't like pocket carry myself. Not accessible when sitting. I use a Crossbreed mini tuck delux IWB. Very comfortable and concealable. I'm 6'1" and 205#.

I'd rather have the G26 in a fight, but I'd rather have the PM9 for the days and years of carry leading up to that (God-forbid) unfortunate eventuality.

Have one, love it. I opted for a front tritium sight only. Dawson Precision sells a front sight and it's easy as pie to install yourself.
