Hey guys-

While looking to expand my concealed carry options to include a pocket gun I stumbled across the budget "Kahr" CW9 CW40 and now the CW45, the 40 and 9 are the same size I think and the 45 a little bigger.

I was wondering with so many carrying PM9 in their pocket does anyone carryy the slightly larger CW9 or CW40 in a pocket? If so how does it work, what kind of pants do you wear and what holster do you use?

Pics are always a great help.

Thanks
Josh

Methinks it would be tough to pocket carry these unless you have very big pockets. My E9 is just to big to really pocket carry and heavy as well. I know folks with the PM series do and I have a PM40 coming in on a trade tomorrow - with a Desantis pocket holster. The larger Kahr's do very well in IWB and OWB carry as they are very thin and flat...

My E9 (of equal size) fits in a large pocket, but is difficult to get a good grasp on. The protruding rear of the slide and the rear sight snag. The PM9 is much easier to pull out of the pocket.

No pocket carrying for my CW9. I use my BladeTech concealed IWB holster. But I too (well technically my dad) own a Kahr E9.

I own the Kahr CW9 and just bought the CW45. The 45 is only slightly larger, in fact the two are almost indistiguishable to me. I've carried my CW9 in my back jeans pocket for a quick jaunt down the road to the stop and rob but usually I wear it in a MTAC holster at about 3 o'clock and it just disappears. I wouldn't recommend either for dedicated pocket carry though, they are a bit largish for my taste. Though I do truly love both pistols.

CW9 pocket carry?

It seems the concensus on this thread, at least, that a CW9 is NOT recommended for pocket carry.

Well, I have a standard Bersa Thunder 380 that I can pocket carry in a DeSantis Nemesis. Is the Kahr smaller, larger, thinner, thicker? Is it more or less suitable than the BT380 for pocket carry?

I'm ONLY interested in pocket carry.

Guess that I'll just to have to run by the LGS and take a look for myself. CW9's are on sale there.

Also, any reports of striker problems, firing pin, etc. problems with this gun, the CW9?

Any input appreciated.

Kahr PM9

The PM9 is IMO one of the finest ccw handguns on the marketThe CW9 is one super handgun also, alittle bigger but internally the workings are all the same. The cost savings is good to, although you cannot put nite sites on the CW9 as the front site is pinned. Still one super handgun and easy to conceal. I would think you should consdier the PM9 nothing smaller out there and certainly nothing better and it has all the bells and whisltes you might want on a quality handgun to. Can't say enough about my PM9. I have 9800 flawless rounds through it since taking it out ofthe box. Alli did was oil the barrel and slide and it has been perfect. Kahrs make super handguns and I am looking forward to their new P380 which willb eout in June and is going to be even samller than the Kel tec 380 and still under 10 ounces and it will have allthe top quality bells and whistles on it like the PM9 has..

cw9

probably the truth to be known, more people carry the cw9 than any other kahr, for it is of great quality and very very affordable, and oh yes the most important thing, IT GOES BANG EVERY TIME.

Bought my CW9 a few weeks ago and it is a really nice gun and the price is unreal. Its ultra slim and makes it really good for IWB. I would say in the pocket would not be that comfortable but can be done with a big shirt. A down side is it only holds 7+1 or 8+1. But all in all its my every day carry weapon.

no doubt

the cw9 is kahr's best selling model, by far. top quality, affordable, and super accurate and a fantastic trigger system. My v bet is that after the kahr p380 is out for awhile , we will see a lower priced version in the cw380. My 24/7 carry is a kahr PM9..

I have the CW9, this gun has been outstanding, although, maybe a tad large for pocket carry. The CW9, however, has a nice advantage over the more expensive models, the barrel is rifled. This means you can use lead bullets in it. Just recently I put a laser (Arma Laser) on my gun, it is definately a tack driver. My 66yr old eyes really love it.

Now I own a Kahr CW9!

I totally love my Kahr CW9 (standard 8 rounds of firepower). I've had it less than a month now, and have shot more than 500 rounds through it. Mine weighs 18.5 oz. empty with magazine attached! One FTF with break-in. Combination of user error with the long OAL of HST 147gr. I am awed by the pistol. I'm quite content with 8 rounds of 9mm +P in such a lightweight semi-auto. Ergonomics of this handgun are superb as it fits my hand perfectly and the frame is really slim-line.

I did have a problem with mag dropping at one range session. I'm left-handed and most definitely that was part of the problem.
'Jason' over at Kahr sent me a stronger mag release spring, which appears to have, in part, solved the problem. That coupled with a variation of my convulsive grip resulted in this no longer being of concern. Remember that I'm a southpaw and the magazine release is on left side of the frame.

The cost of my CW9 on sale at Turner's was only $399.99. Awesome!

And the Kahr CW9 beats out my 442 (which I love) in EVERY respect but one - though I pocket carry, it's a bit less concealable than the J-frame. I've found the Uncle Mike's #8744-4 pocket holster quite suitable. I can also pocket carry it in a DeSantis Nemesis and Bianchi Pocket Change. Any holster compatible with a K9 should fit nicely.

Reliability of auto vs. revolver with this gun is not of concern to me. Please note the Kahr is much easier to shoot accurately, and a lot more fun to shoot than any J-frame! +P is a 'delight' in the CW9 compared to the same in an Airweight. In emergency SD scenario, I feel more confident of accuracy with the Kahr.
