I found a Kahr K9 today, almost by accident. I went to Bass Pro to buy a Savage .17 HMR, but the only one in stock had a stubborn mag release and so I took a pass on it. Later on, I stopped by a local pawn dealer to see if he had anything interesting, and that's when I found a good-condition Kahr K9 for just $300. :what: I just had to take it home, and soon the Savage was all but forgotten.

It's used, but it appears to have been well cared for and still has the storage box and all the papers. The only thing absent is the extra magazine. (And no, this isn't one of the cheaper E9s that shipped from the factory without the spare mag.) I'm wondering if the original owner traded up to the polymer P9 or CW9 and just kept the spare mag. Whatever the case, I'm tickled by the new (to me) pistol, and especially about the price.

I've looked on websites for a place to get another mag for my K9, and I see that there's both a 7-round (like what I have now) and an 8-round mag. They both also appear to have flat bases, and I really can't tell the difference from the pics that are available. So what's the deal? Will either work? Will the 8-rounder protrude from the K9's grip?

Thanks!

Yes, the 8 round mag will protrude. These are for the longer griped TP9 and T9 models. They will still work just fine in the K9 however and give you an extra round at the range. All Kahr mags are pretty much the same except for length...as long as it is long enough (or longer), the mag will work.

I don't think they made 8 round mags for the K9, the height of the K9 is 4.5" the height of the T9 which has 8 round mags is 4.95", you can do the math. orchidhunter

I found my K9 at a local pawn shop for $300 and it is in my opinion the best CCW you could ask for. It is a little heavy but what a nice gun to shoot. What finish does it have? mine is the old finish not the stainless.

Thanks for the help. I'd forgotten about the T9, so that explains the 8-rounders. johndeeere1979, mine also has the older matte finish, which I like better than the flashier stainless. Girodin, I don't disagree at all, but for some folks the newer poly frames are a really big deal. Personally, I like the heft of the steel frames, as it dampens recoil a lot without adding any bulk (as opposed to weight).

That is a great price. I too bought my K9 used at a local pawn shop, but mine cost me about $525. The only difference is mine is the stainless finish, but I sure wish I could have picked mine up for $300. I like the feel and heft of the steel frame myself. It is a great little singe stack 9mm.

i bought my K9 used and have 4000 flawless rounds through it. Super shooter to, I have the extra magazine that hangs out ont he bototm and it is 7 shoot mag. I use it for range use, You didn't buy that gun for $300, U STOLE IT. hell of a deal.

The 8rd mag will work. Ive got one that I use with my PM9( LOL) and it works. Thats just for range use, I carry with the 6rd in the gun and a 7rdr or 2 in my pocket.
