Kahr PM9 Feed Problem

No problems with my MK40 chambering the first round, but it sounds like a problem inherent to the 9mm. Most pistol magazines tend to present the first round at a higher angle than the others, not just Kahr.

Well, that's just odd because I've never had such problems with my cheap POS (according to Jocko) Kel Tec P11 which has 13,000 plus rounds through it in a baker's dozen years. The mag is a double stack 10 rounder, don't have the 12 rounders, but I have no problems with 'em. They're made by Mec Gar and are of high quality. Not putting the Kahr down, just get tired of people telling me my KT sux by the "get what you pay for" crowd when I know how well it works.

I carry my spare mag in a knife sheath on my belt, not because it has any problems retaining ammo, but because it's more convenient. I guess if I wore business attire or something other than jeans and a T shirt all the time, the knife sheath might stick out, though. All us rednecks around here carry knives and my mag is just in front of my multi-tool on my belt. Different dress demands different methods. I used to IWB the gun in a Rosen workman tuckable, but now days, I carry in a pocket holster in carpenter's jeans. Just more convenient for me.

It's weird. My K9 feeds rounds directly into the chamber, barely touches the feed ramp at all. Wonder what's going on with the PF9 that is different from mine...

Hate it

when people lie. Show me where I called the P11 a cheap POS. the P11 is probalby the best 9mm kt ever made

I had significant issues with my new PM9. It would often jam on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round of the magazine. This happened whether I released the slide lock or slingshotted it. I broke out the dremel and some polishing compound and polished everything I could reach to a mirror surface: feedramp, barrel locking block, slide areas that contacted the barrel. This made a world of difference. (This does leave a bad taste in my mouth, as this polishing is offered as an extra service on the Kahr website; a defensive pistol should run 100% out of the box, IMHO. All my Glocks have...) Now if I can get the first round chambered, the whole mag shoots great. Here's a picture I put together showing the problem with support for the first round. It shows the magazine loaded with 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 rounds:

pm9_mags.jpg

Notice that when 5,6, or 7 rounds are loaded, the top round is unsupported and free to do bad things like seen in the center and right configurations below:

pm9_mags_2.jpg

In the center or right pictures, a reload often goes bad in a way that can't be cleared by "tap rack" (even when using the slide release to drop the slide). I have seen either type of failure with the magazine in a good (BladeTech) carrier. This is unacceptable for a carry pistol, IMHO. I am waiting to hear back from Kahr with any suggestions. It seems to me that a mag follower redesign would be in order.

After polishing my PM9, this only seems to be a problem for me for a mag loaded to max capacity (where the top round has the least support). I suspect it was also the cause of my 2nd & 3rd round malfunctions before polishing, but now the pistol is smooth enough to overcome less drastically misaligned rounds.

You've hated on KT in the past. You seem to be a Kahr koolaid drinker. But, hey, excuse me for callin' you on it. Searching, I find quite a bit of Kahr Koolaid.

I remember once you accused me of being a liar because I'd said my P11 had eaten 11,000 trouble free rounds (that's up to about 13K now). You said that was impossible, no KT could do that, was a POS. I searched, can't easily find it, was a few years back. Hell, might have been in a PM, not sure, like the one you just sent me with the little puke icon after you mention Kel Tec. Well, I'm used to you calling me a liar, so it don't bother me anymore. Consider the source.

BTW, only thing I have against Kahr is the price tag. I honestly don't think it'd work any better for ME, actually not as well as my P11 which is very accurate, has a little safer trigger to pocket carry, and is light and reliable. For those who prefer it, fine, they're fine firearms generally.

Humm

can't find it, best excuse I could think of for not being able to prove what you stated.

I sure do drink the kahr koolaid, use to drink kt kool aid also, Been there done that. Burn me once my fault burn me twice your fault. No more kt's for me. If that bashing, so be it, When u had 3 of them and had to send them back 17 times, yup, they ain't great in my book. BUT I NEVER CALLED THE P11 A POS.

You just got caught in one of your lies..

Just reviewed your 3 threads that u posted. I see NO mention at all about a KT P11 as a POS , let alone even mentioned. Try again gunner...

Yeah, whatever. I think the P11 discussion, IIRC, the one that you called me a liar in the first time, was a PM. These are a couple of KT knocks that I found without a lot of searching. I'm sure I could find more if I wanted to waste the time, but I have better things to do. I mean, most folks don't like some brand or gun, fine. They move on, don't harp on it for years with every word they type.

Drebin: had one 32 and two 380. own none now!!!!!!!!!!

not me
no pf9 for me--period

I'm off of this line of conversation, so the train wreck's over. I'll go cool my heals in the BP forum, though lately, it's gotten a little hot over there. :D Ruger basher, believe it or not. I've gotten used to reading KT/Taurus/Glock/even Ruger followed by POS in other forums, but an ROA in the BP forum? Wow. ROFLMAO!

Is it a full moon? Gotta be an explanation.
