That's Justin's wife
I don't care for them, the trigger pull/fit for my hand is poor.
Sorry I missed this.Did you do the work on the front strap and and on the back? Looks great!!
You do commissions?Sorry I missed this.
I stippled the front strap and the under side of the tang, broke a couple of edges I wanted to be just a little smoother, beveled the magazine well, broke the very sharp edge of the slide stop, and just for fun blended out the ball cuts on the lower front of the slide.
Many rounds later, never even a hint of a stoppage.
I’m in category #1. Great pistols, at least the examples I have. Follow the break in but most of mine have worked reliably from the get go. The 380s just disappear in a pocket. Kahr makes extended magazines which allow most people to get four fingers on the grip. Extentions seem somewhat unrefined but don’t add much bulk to the overall size of the guns. Cons for me: mag followers are on the delicate side and the polymer used to make the frames on those that have them, “feel“ of a less sturdy material than say a Glock or M&P. Once broke in they make nice EDCs. And if you grew up and cut your teeth on DA revolvers, the trigger on a Kahr will feel right at home. I have examples of PMs in 380, 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP. The PM 40 can be a little firecracker to shoot but is quite doable. The all steel guns are sublime. I’ve put talon grips on all of mine as the grip treatment is somewhat lacking.
Sorry, long retired.You do commissions?
I have a PM9 that was my first CCW. Great gun and has been utterly reliable. I had it tuned by Cylinder & Slide which only made it better. There have been a couple of threads about specific Kahrs lately. Why not something more general?
Thanks to everyone who helped with ideas on my search for a pocket 45acp pistol. The Kahr CM45 seemed like the best choice for me. It's the smallest and lightest and I might actually carry it.
Today I picked it up from my FFL. I already have a PM9, PM40, and MK40. I like the triggers, I like the sights, the others have been reliable, they fit in my pockets, I can shoot them decently, etc.
I got the CM45 used for $401.43 OTD. It would say it was shot and carried "some" (not just barely, but not a lot). It came with a flush mag and extended mag. It was bone dry and dirty and a bit challenging to rack. Now it's clean and lubed and racks fine. Everything looks good and it feeds rounds fine. I already have a range trip scheduled with friends tomorrow and look forward to trying it out. The 9's and 40's are roughly the same size. This one is a bit larger. It's a good fit for larger coat pockets or cargo pockets that smaller pistols would get turned around in. I have XXL hands and I can get my full pinky on the flush grip.
So do you hate Kahrs, or love Kahrs, or are they just kinda meh? Do you have great Kahr gear, pics, stories, opinions, or prophecies?
Have fun with the poll. I'll post something tomorrow about how the CM45 shoots. (Probably a lot like the other ones.)
I've had an E9 since the late 90s when they first came out.
Almost bought one during a live auction at some event (NRA or Ducks I think)
I had the same issue with my front site. The gunsmith at the shop, where I purchased it, installed a new one for free.Me, too. The choice was between the E9 and a Colt SF VI.
It kicked off the plastic front sight early on but Kahr replaced it promptly.
.....
lets buy one so We can never feel like we missing out!Like @Mark_Mark, I also haven’t fired a Kahr. One of my former bosses bought a 9mm Kahr as his retirement ccw several years ago, but I didn’t do his retirement qual so I never got the opportunity to ask to try it out.
They do seem to get good praise from most of their owners, which is a good sign.
Stay safe.
I generally like them, and for a time they were one of the few quality options of a pocket 9 mm. Given some of the recent magazine capacity engineering in some newer guns out there, Kahr may be seeing some market competition in that segment. There have been a couple of threads about specific Kahrs lately. Why not something more general?
