I was watching a movie "Bullet to the Head" and the character named "Keegan" used a knife that caught my attention. It is a Karambit style blade but I cannot figure out who made it.

1. Any idea who made this particular knife?
2. What are the advantages / disadvantages to this style blade?

Without having seen the movie, I want to make sure you know many movies use novelty blades custom made for specific films. Generally, they're made very poorly and won't hold up to any real use.

All that said, Bud K Worldwide used to deal a lot in these types of blades. I'd look there.

You should provide links so we can help you and not have to guess what you're talking about.

Yeah, even though Emerson never had anything to do with it.

Kerambits have a very specific "manual of arms" and are not simple to use unless you're cutting grasses or flowers.

What exactly are the benefits (if any) to this style blade?

I saw a video on Cold Steel's website showing a guy making short work of a piece of meat but...

wow....I mean the Kershaw emerson collabs are around $30

but I love how in the link it says country of origin CHINA and then name EMERSON

what a complete POS....I love Emerson knives (even with their price tag)

Karambit started as a agricultural tool and evolved into a combat weapon

Benefits are that it is effective at slashing/ripping....which is more conducive to self defense hit-n-run than stabbing

Personally, I don't love karambits. They rarely deploy smoothly/naturally. But I love my Spyderco Civilian and would bet my life on it.
