Thinking about different configurations for the P3AT. Just wanted to get some opinions on the following add-ons:

+1 magazine extension kit
(How far does this extension protrude?)

P32/P3AT magazine grip extensions

belt clips

I'm most seriously thinking about getting an additional mag and two mag extension kits (one for the mag in the pistol and one for the spare). My main question is this: Will the mag extension kit affect concealability? Will it work okay with the Hedley Limited Edition pocket holster? I don't think the extension sticks out all that far, but I just want to be sure.

I am wearing the left belt clip on my right hip right now.
I cut a hole into my watch pocket of my jeans.
The pistol is between my underwear and my jeans pocket.
The clip enters the watch pocket 1/2" down from the top.
A Buck knife is cliped on the big pocket, and my car keys are in the top of the watch pocket.
The keys, the knife, and the two pocket hide the outline of the pistol so well, I can't even see it in a mirror.
If someone patted me down, they would get the knife and keys before they could feel the gun. It makes me feel like Popeye of the French Connection when I am around women:cool:

I have the Bersa mag exenders on my P-3AT magazine and I use a Hedley front pocket holster. No problems at all. I'm not a fan of best clips. I prefer to have the trigger covered.

I took the belt clip off because is got it the way and would cut my hand when at the range, it will also freeze up the trigger if screwed on too tight. I just carry it the front pocket with a holster. For me the P3AT needs nothing and has been a good little back up gun.

To see pictures of the different magazine extensions, see http://1bad69.com/keltec/p3at-fingerrest.htm Factory magazines are $20 from Kel-Tec or $17 in the Buy/Sell area of the KTOG bulletin board.

Other options available from Kel-Tec are $20 hard chrome slide/barrel exchange and colored grips (gray or olive green).

I put a Nikon Monarch red dot on mine. Makes pocket carry hell. Grouping has improved though.

About half and helf here - -

Belt clip, Si. Finger extension, No!

The belt clip allows for a lot of versatility in carrying. I've never had a roblem with one on either a P32 or P11. No experience with the P3AT so far. (I intend to change this.)

OTOH, I don't see buying the neatest, smallest pocket pistol around and then purposely making it larger by adding to the height by installing a finger extension.

One man's opinion. :)

Best,
Johnny

I dont think Im gonna put a finger extension on my P3AT either.

With my strong hand I can group pretty darn well at 7 paces.

Im with Johnny on not making the pocket rocket bigger. It rides just fine in the current configuration its in right now.

Johnny, you need to get a P3AT as soon as possible. Its a blast to shoot. I like it so much I dont want to part with it long enough to get the slide chromed.

I have two P-3ATs and have both had the Bersa mag extesion and the +1 or the Bersa extension. I also had Hogue grips on both pistols.

I decided to do a little test one day. I removed the Hogue grips from both pistols and used only the standard floor plate on one pistol. After alternately firing both pistols, I came to the following conclusion.

Although the extensions and over grip make the pistol feel more comfortable, both accuracy and speed were no different with or without the pinky extension and the Hogue grips.

I have not used either the extensions or over grips since!

Sorry for the poor quality picture!

Oh, I agree, Lennyjoe - -

- - I DO need to pick up a P3AT sometime soon. Problem is, I fear it will go the way of my P32 - - My sweet wife will glom onto it, it'll be clipped into her waistband or dropped in her right front pocket. I'll seldom see it until the next time she says, "Check out the guy on your left - - Looks like he's on somebody's case load."

(She used to be a state parole officer . . . .)

Oh, well, mybe I'll get the P32 back.

Best,
Johnny

I wanted extra capacity on my P-3AT, but not at the cost of sacrificing concealability. Therefore, I put the Kel-Tec +1 extension on my spare mag only. This gives me 6+1 in the pistol, plus 7 in the spare. I figure if I ever need the spare, the gun's already out and in use, so concealability/footprint isn't an issue.

I keep my pistol in a K&D 2-in-1 pocket holster, and the spare mag in a mag pouch K&D made for me.

The only other add-on I have is my P-Sight, which I installed during testing and development.

I just picked up a P-32 as my CCW piece, and plan on keeping it simple with an extra clip and one of RJ Hedley's holsters.

This is what happens when you don't teach "Safe Sex" to your HS2000!!

I was going to get the belt clip for my p3at but in another discussion on this board some one mentioned that since the p3at does not have a safety, a pocket holster that covers the trigger is a much better mode of carry.. I agreed, so I ordered a Ron Graham Maverick pocket holster that I can use for front or rear pocket carry. Works for me...

Hi Guyon!

Belt clip, NO. +1 mag extension, SI!

If it's a show piece, belt clip's okay. If you're going to shoot it much, you'll tire of the belt clip quickly.

One extra round is great, and does NOT hamper concealability, but it DOES allow you to get an extra finger's worth of grip on the pocket popper, which IMO is MUCH needed.

Amazing how easy it is to tweak and personalize these little guns!
YMMV
