Last Monday I took my Kel-Tec P-11 back to the factory for the THIRD TIME because it PHYSICALLY BROKE when firing. :cuss: Fortunately, all 3 times were on the range. I let them know, politely, but in no uncertain terms that I was NOT happy with the weapon, and could they please fix it so I could sell it.

Well, a few minutes later, out comes the gunsmith and asks me, since the receptionist told her I was going to sell the weapon when they got it fixed, would I rather have them just refund me the purchase price instead?!! :what:

I said I most assuredly would, but then we got bogged down in the fact that I had bought the gun some 5 years ago and didn't have the original receipt for it with me. They wouldn't refund the money without the original receipt. Understandable, but vexing. OK, just fix it and let me worry about selling it.

Oh, BTW, I have a P-40 conversion kit that I bought from you right here, that has never worked. Would you be willing to buy that back, since you undoubtedly have a record of its sale? Well, they'd look it up and see....

A few minutes later she comes out and tells me that they couldn't locate the sales record, but the manager said they would issue me a check for $175.00 for it, if that was acceptable. Since that's what I paid for it, I quickly agreed, and handed them the kit like it was a hot potato. :D

About a half hour later, they come out with a BRAND NEW P-11 that they had put my old serial number on, saying that since the frame was one of the old ones (~24,000) they had simply given me a completely new pistol, which they had just test fired, and was working perfectly.

I must admit, I was impressed! I now have a NIB pistol for sale, rather than a somewhat worn carry piece. :D

In a brief moment of insanity (seems to come more and more often) I thought about keeping the P-11, but when I compared it with my PT-145, it's only about a half inch shorter and thinner, with about an inch less butt. On my old and somewhat large frame, there's no significant difference in concealability between the two. And the PT-145 holds 11 .45 Hydra-Shoks as opposed to 11 9mms, plus has a much shorter and lighter trigger pull.

If Kel-Tec's pistols were as good as their legendary warranty service, they'd make Sigs look like Lorchins!

Of course, they'd still have crummy triggers. :D

I have a Keltec P11, P32 and a P3AT. After a little minor work they all work fine. I am waiting to check out the SU-16 to go with my Bushmaster XR-15. Dissipator.

I have a HC Kel-Tec P-11 9mm. I carry it everyday. I have had absolutly "0" problems with it. It shoot anything I feed it. Never had to do anything to it. Only thing added is a beltclip. I couldn't be happier with it.

Conceals very easy. Shoots everytime, and hits what I point it at. What more could you want?

"older frame"?

Wow!

My P-11 must be a dinosaur with a s/n under 9,000.

Mine have never given me a moment's trouble, and I'm glad KT was able to make you happy!

So... how about $150 (including shipping) for that P-11? :D

Me and the oldest daughter were out shooting my P11 yesterday.
It absolutely screams with any ammo I put in it.
A nice, lightweight carry.

But for the topic, yes, Keltec has almost always delivered satisfaction one way or another.

BULL HOCKEY!!!!
Are you, sir, suggesting that I am lying about my gun breaking, or merely that I am delusional and that the gun broke only in my mind. :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

I understand that there are lots of good, reliable Kel-Tecs out there. If there weren't, they couldn't stay in business, regardless of how good their warranty service is. But then, there are people who are perfectly satisfied with their Jennings or Lorchins, too.

Every gun manufacturer manages to let a few lemons out the door. Even Sig. But when an owner of one of my type firearms experiences problems, I'll commiserate with him, and, if possible, suggest cures, not call him a liar.

I appreciate the fact that those responding have Kel-Tecs that work just fine. That doesn't mean that mine did. IMHO, Kel-Tecs are guns that should be carried a lot and shot a little. YMMV. But to suggest that a member is deliberately misrepresenting his experiences to denegrate any particular brand of gun is just plain rude and uncalled for. :fire: :fire: :fire:

AUTIGER04 is just poking fun at those who can't pass up an opportunity to knock Kel-Tec.
There is a similar group that insists Glocks fire at orphans and nuns while locked, unloaded, in safes with the barrels removed.....right before they explode.

...don't forget that SIGs rust, 1911's jam, USP's break firing pins, Delta Elites crack their frames, and Berettas break their locking blocks right before putting the back half of the slide through your bridgework.

The faster most folks realize that all guns suck, the happier they'll be. :D
