Do P40 magazine extentions fit on P11 mags? My question is because the cheesy P11 finger-extention tends to break. If it fits, can one fill fix it so that one is still in compliance with the AWB... that is where one would not be 'making a high-capacity feeding device?'

On the KT forums, they say the 40 extension will fit the 11 mags. If you fill them up past the legal limit they become unreliable. Just put 10 rnds in them and you shouldnt have any trouble........from what Ive read anyhow.

Shoot well.

If you really want the extra length, your better bet is to get a mag for the S&W 669, and buy the spacer for it from Kel-Tec. You then have a 12 (or 13) round mag and a bit more to grip. The same holds true of the 15-round S&W Model 59 mags, with the plastic spacer installed.

(I've got a spacer somewhere in my parts box, and I no longer have a P-11 or Model 59 mags... Finding it is the problem.)

If you just put a P-40 ext on a P-11 mag, you have broken the law (even if you only load 10 rounds). I made some spacers to put in mine to limit capasity to 10 rounds, but upon closer inspection of the law beleive even spacers to be illegal:

18 U.S.C. Chapter 44
921(a)(31) The term 'large capacity ammunition feeding device' -

(A) means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device manufactures after the date of enactment of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition: but

(B) does not include an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.

pay special attention to the part "or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds." I would think that only having a spacer in there is "readily converted", but then again so is just owning a P-11 mag and a P-40 ext..... I would think if you were to somehow make the spacer permanant it would be ok, but I just went with 12 rounders:

Thanks for the info. I like the picture, it really illustrates the difference. The legal thing to do, then, would be to permanently bond (epoxy or Model glue) the spacer into the magazine thereby preventing insertion of over 10 rounds.

Actually, the solution seems to be buying a 69xx pre-ban magazine. I own a 5904 and several magazines for same. I don't like the extra length of that magazine, though, as I normally pocket-carry in the winter. While I don't mind the 10 round capacity, I like having something sitting a little lower on my backup magazine so that I can have that extra finger as well as a margin of reliability when slapping a new magazine in (gloved hands) during a tense, combat reload in the winter.
