Has anyone experienced feeding problem with the Kel Tec P32? I have a new P32 and a round would sometime get stuck between the magazine lip and the feed ramp. When this happens I could not release the magazine and I have to push down on the round to get the magazine out and get the round in the chamber. I am using 71 gr. RN FMJ. I tried to search for a topic on this but has been unsucessful. Thanks in advance.

I agree that you should try some different ammo. I've owned one of these for a couple years now. I've found that bullet shapes vary quite a bit in the .32acp between manufacturers. I like the Fiocchi FMJs best. Others have worked fine in my gun, but the Wolf FMJs have a longer over-all length and it is a struggle to remove an unfired round. I also polished the feedramp on mine (among other points) before I ever even took it to the range. I don't know if I would have had a problem if I hadn't done it, but it certainly hasn't hurt.

Ok I have had a first gen P32 for years and have shot every type of ammo I could find. The only one I have ever had an issue with was I believe it was called American something. It would lock up each shot and not eject. It was frusterating shooting a box out of a single shot. Do not give up this is an ammo issue I feel pretty sure.

Welcome to the board.

I'd try different ammo but if you still have a problem, either send it back to the factory for a "fluff and buff", or do it yourself. Instructions are on the Keltec board (ktog.org.) You can even google "Keltec P32 fluff and buff". ;-)

Back in the original first few years of the P32, almost every gun went back to the factory for the F&B, it was standard procedure, mine included :( Keltec has good customer service, but they needed it. Supposedly, the manufacturing has gotten better since those days, but yours might still need the trip.

You my be experiencing rim-lock.

You my be experiencing rim-lock.

Not likely unless these FMJ are significantly shorter OAL than normal. Rim-lock is an issue with JHP ammo.

Posting a photo of the problem would be a big help. Trying different ammo can't hurt though.

That junk flat nose 32 Winchester ball is same OAL as a HP and will rim lock.

I am using 71 gr. RN FMJ

If its significantly shorter OAL than "normal" FMJ it can rim-lock, but he said he was using FMJ RN without specifying a brand.

If it's doing it during shooting, it would be pretty rare.
It is not uncommon for these little guns to hang up on the first round if you ride the slide down when you load it.

Yank the slide fully back and let go!
Let it slam shut like you borrowed it from your brother-in-law!!!

Make sure the gun is well lubed and clean.
BTW: A lot of K-T owners use grease on the feed rails and barrel cam to further reduce friction.

Is it possible you have a bad magazine? Does it do it on the first round everytime? Try another magazine and different ammo. I find it hard to believe the gun NEEDS a F&B with FMJ RN ammo. I had one of their extended mags that didn't feed near as reliable as the 8 rounders do.

If you were using hollow points you are probably experiencing rimlock. Either install the anti-rimlock flyer wire or use FMJ. I use Buffalo Bore, Fiocchi or S&B FMJ. I want the penetration.

Not if you shoot them in the right place.

A third of the world used .32 ACP's for police & military handguns for a long long time.
Most of those shot knew they had been shot, if they lived long enough to realize they had been shot at all.

Sorry you're having the trouble. I've got a new P32 and have had 0 malfunctions yet...I shoot FMJ, but I have shot some of the flat-nose winchester noted above and had no trouble with that either. I do pay attention when I load the mags.

p32

Go to KTOG,org
Keltec Owner Group. There is a wealth of info there

++ 1 .. what he said...got to ktog.org, then click on Bulletin Board.

Most info you will find on Kel Tec, period.. one of the posters there has a site...goldenloki.com does lots of custom work and reliability work on kel tec

I have 2 KT P32's with not so much as a single failure. As others have said, it may be the ammo... make sure the cartridge is not too short for the mags. In other words, you should not have much extra space in front of the bullet tip in a loaded mag. If you do, it could cause rimlock. Use caution when loading your mags as not to overlap the rim of the cartridge below. As for ammo, I have had great success with Euro ball such as Fiocchi 73g and S&B 73g.
