I'm not sure if "handguns" is the right spot but since technically it is a handgun ill try 'er out. I was looking at the kel tec website and ran across the plr-16 "handgun" in .223/5.56 and it seems like a decent gun. I've been interested in ar style handguns for about a year now but don't know a whole lot about them. I figure it'd be a fun range toy and a cool gun that not too many people have, at least people I know. The plr has a decent price compared to other higher end brands I've seen and I'd like to know a little more about it and AR pistols in general. Reliability, function, and pros-cons. Also if there is a better bang for my buck AR pistol available. Thanks ahead guys, you always come through!

I had one. I liked it but it was loud as hell, and not very practical. I ran fine but I probably only put 200-300 rounds through it. Sort of cheap and plastic. Definitely fun. Try one you might like it but I shoot other pistols better and in more volume so it had to go. I still have a normal AR-15 that is a lot easier to shoot accurately.

I really wanted to put a stock on my PLR but have not done the whole NFA thing and figured if I wanted to build a SBR whay not start with an AR instead and have interchangeable parts.

I had a pair of them, but sold one when I got hard up. I'll never part with the other, though. These things are a big middle finger at the NFA, and almost too much fun. It's a lot of firepower in a small package, that's for sure!

Its nice to hear that they are reliable and owners like them. It really seems like a fun, different gun at a good price. I was going to pick up a FN five-seven for my next handgun but I think it can wait now that i found out about the kel tec. Maybe ill check into the pmr 30 too, its pretty much the five-seven's main competition. Heck I could pick up the plr-16 and the pmr-30 and ammo for less than the 5-7! Any thoughts on the pmr-30? Only problem is there are 3 LGS'S I can think of off the top of my head that have a five seven in stock and I've never even seen either of the kel tecs anywhere locally.

Any thoughts on the pmr-30?

Got one of those, too. Love it. Had to tweak the extractor a touch to make it 100% reliable, and it did break the assembly pin at ~ 1,200 rounds (KT sent two replacements, no charge, had them in 3 days).

The PMR is one of the most fun firearms I've ever owned. Big muzzle blast, but virtually no recoil, and it seems like the magazine is bottomless. I gave $329 for mine after a long wait, and it was worth every penny and every month.

For that cheap I cant pass them up. I'm going to get in trouble with the fiancée but I dont care lol. I just ordered a kimber rifle for $1500 and said I won't buy anymore guns this year but I better pick up both keltecs and possibly the five-seven. Ill get the 5-7 eventually just maybe not this year. I've been eyeing the KSG as well but figure ill wait till they become more readily available and the initial awe factor wears off. Its awesome that keltec has such good customer service. There are ALOT of upper tier manufacturers that have horrible service yet still have a loyal following. Kinda funny. Oh well.

+3 Keltec :D

I bought mine strictly for fun and as a single digit salute to the anti-gunners some of us elected, and it excels at both of these purposes. I have always heard it was loud, but I find that isn't so, but maybe it's because I have quite a few boomers. It is, however, a lot of fun, quite accurate for my tastes, and mine has never failed. What's not to like?
