I've had on on order since they were announced, still do not have one, does anyone here own one and how does it function?

I've had mine since June. Mine functions fine. Got lucky and one of the local pawn shops I had it on order from called me to let me know they got one in.

I know they are cranking them out. With the current climate, you will probably have to wait even longer.

There are three guys who work at KT and shoot their PMRs at our local steel matches. The guns don’t function well, at all. Lots of jams. They seem accurate enough for steel, but that doesn’t take much.

My take: If employees who work at the factory can’t get their guns to run well, what chance do regular customers have?

What Japle said! you should sell them all to me! Really, I've had 2 for a couple of years now and no problems, both have worked flawlessly with any diet, and very accurate! I have to wonder what these fellows working for Kel-tec do there, maybe sweep up reject parts and build their own guns with the pieces?
If they are crap, then why are they the most sought after pistol in the US?
Why is the OP having such a hard time getting one, even though there are now over 40,000 PMR's produced?
Why are they commanding such high prices on gun broker and elsewhere? Why are they so hard to come by, and why are 99.5% of them new in the box? Why are used PMR's for sale very few and far between? Because they are awsome fun, and the few that have had problems were made right by Kel-Tec's great customer service!

I dont know about the factory thing. Is everyone who works in the auto factory suppose to know how to fix cars when they break down? I hardly think so. My PMR30 has never had a bit of trouble. (and i'm a farmer)

I'd really like one, but I'm worried that when they become available again, the price will have jumped 100 bucks or more. Bud's last discounted price was $335. After all of this magazine capacity panic, I'm guessing that the price of a 30 round pistol has nowhere to go but up.

Had mine almost two years, many rounds down range. It did break the takedown pin somewhere in the 1,000-1,200 round mark; KT sent a pair of replacements priority mail at no charge.

This is an old thread but I have had one since 2011 and it has been absolutely perfect for me. My father uses it as his nightstand gun now.

I would never have a problem owning a KT gun because they will make it right no matter what the problem.

I've heard of this mythical "PMR-30" and some claim to have photos.

I'm skeptical.

;)

After the last Kel-tec thread I am very tentative to involve myself in this one, although I would like to see the gun and shoot it. I would in no way pay the asking price that is being requested for that pistol.
if I could get one for under 5 hundred, I might purchase it "only after making sure I liked it", bbecause they seem to be easy enough to re-sell of trade because of demand.
But at $900 to 1000 per unit, I would much rather pick up a nice 1911 colt or S&W, and know I had something of value that I was sure to enjoy.
The cost of ammo is the last consideration for me, because I no longer shoot that much, but enjoy shooting when I have the time and money to blast through a few hundred dollars worth of ammo.
I don't enjoy shooting for 10-15 minutes and going through a hundred rounds, it's just when I start warming up.

Well, I went to the lgs a while back and the lady put a box in front of me with a 'guess what'? Yep, my PMR30 I ordered quite a while back. I didnt have the nerve to tell her I had already found one so now I have two! I believe it was $349 + tax and I was on my way. But I did pay more than that for the 1st one.

I must admit, my general reaction to the PMR is a great big 'meh'. I guess it's because I'm basically urban and don't have the opportunity to shoot except at a range. Maybe if I had 50 acres and a rabbit problem I'd be digging the PMR a little more. Probably not, though.

Other than being cool, I can't really see where it would be the best choice for anything I'm likely to do. Maybe as something to pack into BOB and forget about.

It doesn't help that the last one I saw in a store (last week) was $799 ... I guess that green cerakote is more expensive than I thought.

I talked to the guys at KT a couple of months ago and they told me they have not raised their price on any of their weapons in the past year. I paid $329 I think for mine and only got it because a friend of mine lives near Cocoa and got me one right after they came out. There is a certain "cool" factor to the gun but I agree it doesn't really serve much purpose for most gun owners. Then again my .22 cowboy revolvers don't serve much purpose other than having fun. Maybe 22mag ammo will get back in line soon because I sure can't afford to shoot it much now.

I think the .22 WRF is a very destructive round for the recoil penalty. I am certain 30 rounds of WRF would be at least as effective as 15 rounds of 9x19mm, and much less likely to overpenetrate an attacker. I also think most people would be more likely to put more good hits on attacker/s with a .22 Magnum than with a duty caliber, and the light recoil is likely to encourage people to go shoot the piece more than they might a harder-recoiling, more expensive to shoot caliber.

I know this is with a rifle but we took the 22mag and 17HMR to the p-dog town today. No comparison on the destruction between the two. The mag with Hornady critical defense blows a lot bigger holes than the 17 with poly tips. Both kill them, the 22mag just kills em deader.:D

In a gunfight it's not a shot for shot competition. You would be lucky to hit the guy or guys at all while moving in different directions. To me I want the round I use to do the most damage should I actually get the chance to get a clear shot at the perp or perps, it's no trading shot for shot, it's the hit in the best place with the round that does the most damage that counts.
Shooting someone several times with a 22, is much harder than getting in a clean shot with a 45. Espscially when they are returning fire. The 45 will disable them faster given a hit in the same spot.
Not that anyone wants to be in that position, but really would you rather hit someone with a "9mm 45", or a 22, which more than likelly won't expand at all, "which is the purpose of hollow points for self defense".

I can't argue that and agree completely but for some, my 91 year old father for instance, the low recoil of the rimfire makes the difference. He CANNOT handle even a 9mm and we tried several different guns. The .32 revolver was okay for recoil but he can no longer pull back the hammer reliably. He can reliably shoot my .22 revolvers if he has plenty of time to pull back the hammer but even pulling the trigger on a SA gun is almost impossible FOR HIM. We "settled" on the 22 mag and the PMR-30 in particular because he CAN handle it and it offers him 30 rounds. Of course he has never used a gun in HD and probably never will but he feels better knowing he can handle what he has available.

I'd love to have one of these. I've never even seen one in person but unfortunately online the prices are insane. Online they go for $800, which is about a $500 markup.

If I was going to spend almost a thousand dollars I'd just buy an FN 5.7 instead.

Have you priced the FN 5.7 lately?
Not saying the price, goober heads, are paying for PMR's (or FN 5.7's) on GB is a good idea, I don't think so! I see from this thread and my own experience, that PMR's can be bought for reasonable prices! So far as self defense goes, if you don't hit the perp, he will likely die of a heart attack after seeing the fireball, and hearing the report!
