Hello all,

I finally gave in to my curiosity and bought a Kel Tec P3AT. I got the chromed slide.

My question is, should I do the fluff and buff as recomended here http://www.ktog.org/tecwerks12a.htm ? I don't want to ruin the benefit of the chrome process on the barrel and slide. I'm not even sure if sanding it will damage the chrome?

If it matters, it's new, as yet unfired and the serial number is HE***

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Shoot it first. If it works then leave it alone. If it doesn't, try the F&B. My wife's chromed P32 was faultless--even during the 200 round break-in period.

I've never bothered with chrome. The chrome finish is very slick and the parts seem to slide very smoothly with it. Shoot it first and see how it does. Be sure to lube it properly first.

If you do decide to do a F&B on it, however, rest assured that no damage will be done to the chrome finish. I did the HC slide/barrel exchange, and shortly thereafter did a F&B to it. Using very fine 400-grit sandpaper, it just makes the finish in the selected F&B spots very shiny and slick...it does not remove or otherwise harm the finish.

I would F&B before you shoot it, that way it does not break itself in twice. You can save a tiny, unoticeable amount of uneeded wear this way.
