so I got my 'Bush recession rebate check' this past Friday, 600 smackeroos to supplement another $400 or so . So I'm looking for another handgun. Went by my local shop today. They had a couple choices. I'm looking for a .45 as I have a CZ75 9mm now.

1.) they had a used SIG P220 on consignment, 2 mags, with box and papers. The condition was in mint, with the only wear I could see is on the magazine itself (you can see the black finish wearing off). Night sights would be an extra $100 or so if I wanted them to install them. Price was $599. I can get a new P220 for $730 + 5% tax at another local gun shop without night sights.

2.) Kimber Custom TLE II Stainless for $1015.. I like the checkering on the magazine well. But I notice less negatives with Sig P220s than with the Kimber 1911s when doing my research on gun forums.

another option I was considering is Fusion Firearms Fusion PRO-Series ELITE Custom $1295 I saw this online so I would have to order it but the features look pretty sweet. But for $1300, man, thats a bit pricey.

grip-wise, the SIG and Kimber feel good. Anyone have problems with the Kimber Custom TLE II?

pass on the SIG and go for the upper end 1911?

Get a Dan Wesson bobtail in 45. This pistol is head and shoulders above my Kimber Eclipse ,and I sorry to say will out shoot all my Colt Commanders. Carries nicely in my http://ubgholsters.com
Can be had for less than a grand . Well worth the look.

The Fusion or the DW are both excellent choices if you are looking to drop over $1000. I do not care for the Kimber packages in that price range, you are buying a lot of hype (my 2 cents). I have fired most of the Kimber models and you can do much better with a solid 70 or 80 series Cold and a little light trigger/sear work, and still be under $1000. The Sig P220 is a solid choice as well, one of my favorite IDPA weapons. One other one to look at is the Smith & Wesson Custom Pro II 1911. I recently picked one up, pretty solid factory piece for under $1000. Happy hunting!

I would suggest that you don't spend it all on the gun.

If you get a gun in the $550-800 range, you then have money left over in case you decide to want to replace a few things (grips, sights, etc.), have some money for a holster, and still have some left over for ammo.

Since the check is supposed to stimulate the US economy, you should go for the kimber, made in the USA :D

I have a sig 220. It was made around 1990. It still puts holes in the middle of the targets. It's a wounderful firearm to own. If you decide to go with the sig wich i strongly suggest, then you have to decide if you want a tactical rail or not. The newer 220s have it. Older ones don't.
