This is my second post, so I should really say hello first! I've been reading THR for three years now. Thanks for all of the fun late night reading material.

My Eclipse Target II has been completely reliable for the last 1,200+ rounds, and I have three Kimber magazines. I picked up a couple of boxes of 230 gr Fiocchi FMJ recently, and I am getting a consistent fail to feed on the last round of one of my magazines. I noticed that the follower on 2 of my 3 mags (one stainless 7 round, and the blued factory 8 rounder) are flat and look like most 1911 mag followers. The third problem magazine, a stainless 10 shot, has a follower that is convex rounded. I'd post a pic, but my camera batteries are charging :(

The last round hangs up the slide, and i believe just touches the ramp. I am wondering why Kimber designed the 10 shot mag this way. The floorplates looks welded, so I think that replacing the follower is out of the question if this problem continues, but I am new to this, so let me know if otherwise. Anyone else have problems with this ammunition or Kimber mag?

ive never had anything but problems with magazines more then 8 rounds in a 1911. Ive tried a couple diffrent brands chip mcormick, a no name and a kimber. All had problems feeding. I think john browning pretty much knew what he was doing when he put a 7 round mag in the gun. That said some 1911's are finicky about mags, if it doesnt work, mark it and dont carry it.

Just got my Kimber Gold Match back from the factory with that different style follower mag you have. Don't know when they switched, but it hasn't given me any problems so far. But I'm comparing it to my two 8 year old worn out ones. :)

I ordered 4 (3x 8 rounders and one 10 rounder for a change) Power Mags from midway that were on sale to back it up though. Never had a problem with any Chip McC's even the lowliest Shooting Star was reliable for years.

My Eclipse target II works best with Chip's Shooting Stars. I've tried Wilson 47D's, Magtechs, and Shooting Stars. I've never had a problem with the Kimber or shooting stars. They've been 100% and they are the 8 round mags. The wilsons and magtecs both have polymer followers and, for some reason, fail to load the first round. Try a $14 shooting star and you may be suprised. They look identical to the mag that came with my Kimber(lip, follower, base pad), that could be the reason they work so well. I wish they made mags for my new Stainless Pro II 9mm.
