Yeah they work but I would change them out for steel. Just my preference.

I'm a big Colt fan, but you will find plastic mainspring housings on Colts, and some trigger's too. They still work.

I didn't know about the trigger, but yeah shame on both Colt and Kimber for selling mid-range 1911's with plastic MSH's even though they do work fine. I quickly replaced mine with a Ed Brown Maxi-Well.

MY gold cup trophy colt has a Nylon(plastic) mainspring housing 10,000 or so rounds down the pipe since 1998 and it still just fine, and no rust in the serations. If I didnt point it out no one would notice it looks like mat stainless steel. My 1974 Govt model nickle plated (colt guard) keeps growing rust in the serations of the steel mainspring housing.
