That's how I carry mine and have never had an issue with it. Pulling the trigger requires some conscious effort and not likely to happen by accident. However, I have discovered that it's possible to push the safety to the ON position if you rub against something so you need to be aware.
I've thought about the same situation with mine but I prefer to carry it in a pocket in a soft shell holster and I won't do that without safety engaged. If I had a hard shell holster like kydex that completely covers the trigger it would be fine. But that does not make for a very comfortable pocket carry. Think Kimber knew what they were doing when they added the thumb safety. Even with a bit of travel that trigger is extremely light especially for pocket carry which is how I see this gun best utilized. Look at it this way. If Walther made a small enough PPQ to be carried in a pocket would you do it? Not on a bet. If carried either IWB or OWB in rigid holster with good retention I see no problem. But in that case I'm carrying something larger than a Solo.
