I have two Kimbers, a Super Match bought maybe 20 years ago and a Target lI in 10mm bought maybe 15 years ago. Both are very accurate pistols but have had multiple problems.
The Super Match is on it's fourth set of adjustable sights, normal wear according to Kimber's CS.
The Target II was purchased when 10mm first became available, was a total jamomatic until I got some Colt magazines for it, in addition it suffered from other problems resulting in three trips back to Kimber. I found their customer service department downright insulting and uncooperative.
As a result I crossed Kimber off my list and switched to Dan Wessons.
Just wondering about todays quality and service.
To this day I shoot both pistols sparingly for fear of needing service.

Currently have a Kimber Stainless Raptor II custom and the Kimber KHX OR custom - both in 9 MM and have served me well. No feeding or loading problems. Did have the KHX finish begin to flake - sent it to Kimber and they refinished the pistol - no problems with customer service.

I have had both DW and Kimber . Both had out of the box problems . I was able to fix the Kimber myself . The Dan Wesson had to go back to CZ . The customer service was night and day difference between the two companies . Kimber’s customer service was terrible . I did shoot it pretty accurate , but I do the same with the DW . I sold the Kimber . This was about 15 years ago to date things and not current experience . I still would have a hard time buying another Kimber now from that experience .

. . . fourth set of adjustable sights, normal wear according to Kimber's CS.
Pictures, or it didn't. . . what? How do sights wear out?

Every Kimber I've owned ran without issue once properly lubed and fed. YMMV.

Kimber's CS was in New York for a long time. As a former Damned Yankee myself, I get so say that New Yorkers are genetically unsuitable to be CS Agents.

As for quality, Kimber is a mid-line manufacturer of 1911s (right in there with Ruger, Colt, Smith, etc) with a better web design firm, and more product variation. They are not on a par with Brown, Wilson, or Baer.

I suspect they broke.

For context, does the OP have adjustable sights on his G17, Beretta 92FS, SIG P220/P226, HK USP, Browning Hi-Power, etc.? If so, have they held up well?

I have 5 Kimbers. 3 Target II's, 45, 9mm and 38 Super and 2 Pro Carries, 45 and 9mm. And one light weight two tone 5" , 45.

I can't speak for their C/S since they have been excellent in terms of quality, appearance and operation. I have never had to use their C/S. I cannot say that about S/A, Colt or S/W!

The 9mm CII was a gamer gun with 10-20 thousand of rounds down range. The only issues were magazine or ammo related. I did wear out a competition sear and hammer though. The gun was given to my son since I'm now retired from competition due to hand and neck issues.

Smiles,

Thanks for the good laugh this day; darn near a knee-slapping statement along
with a hoot and a holler.

Hoot and holler all you like. I have 1911s from Colt, Springfield, and Kimber. The Kimber was purchased new 18 months ago. It is the only one of the three that out of the box with no modifications reliably feeds FMJ, several different hollow points, and my 200 grain lead SWCs.

It’s amazing how many fools there are that pay good money for Kimber‘s year in and year out. I have six of their pistols and four of their rifles. They’re all garbage. None of them will ever be for sale. Until my wife and kids sell them.

Yep the two pieces that make up the adjustable sight parted company.
On the other hand my Colt Gold Cup, purchased new in the mid 70's with the somewhat fragile, by comparison, Colt Ellison adjustable has never had a problem through 45 years of service. ;)

I had two coworkers that would go round and round about Kimber. One had previously worked in a gun store and joked about how Kimbers needed a thousand rounds and one or two trips back to the factory before they were "broken in." The other coworker shot competitively, with Kimbers and liked them enough to name her dog "Kimber."

I only have experience with the K6s. It's been a great gun.

I have 2 Kimber 1911's, one in .45 one in 9mm, and while I don't shoot them too often, I have never had a single malfunction.

I also have a yellow lab named Kimber.

I have purchased 4 Kimber's. My wife has a Micro 9 and a Micro .380..my daughter has a Micro 9 and I have a Micro 9 Rapide. They are all well made and perform flawlessly. I certainly don't feel like a fool for buying them.

That being said..you own ten in total that you consider garbage. What does that make you?
