I am debating on the above listed .45ACPs.....need to stock pile for SB489.

I need help picking a full size .45ACP.

I've shot varients of the above three. IF you had to pick one, which one and why.

Thanks to the THR crowd I have my compact .45ACP narrowed down to a G30 :)

There are two people at my local range who have had fits with Kimber TLEs.

USPs are nice but bit and rather pricy for a plastic pistol.

Which leads me to the finest double action .45 pistol ever created the SIG P220. I highly recommend this gun. It is reliable to a fault, extremely accurate, extremely durable, attractive, comfortable and just plain nice. Make mine a SIG P220.

If you don't own a 1911 though, I think everybody should have one. I would look take a long hard look at the new Colt 1991A1s and the Springfield base and loaded models. My buddy has a Kimber Pro carry that he loves and it is very nice but based on my massive marketing research of two(2) TLE's I  I personally would shy away from them.

Did I mention the SIG. :D

In reality they are all great guns and all are made buy good companies who are just as likely as the other one to churn out a lemon but chances are you will get a good gun from any of them. It's just that the P220 is soooooo nice.

Kind of depends on what you like

The Kimber is probably the smallest of the three.

If you like single action it is between the HK and Kimber..advantage Kimber

If DA/SA is ok.,..it is between the Sig and the HK with the nod to the HK IMHO

All I can say is...

I love my KIMBERS!!!!

(I own a Custom Stainless & an Ultra CDP)

I own all three and the question shouldn't be which one to get but
which one to get first. I don't have a lot of rounds through the Kimber
yet but if I had to choose the 220 would be the last to go. With the 220 everything just seems right for me.

I went through this a month ago. My choice was the Sig 220ST. I have not had any secong thoughts at all.

I considered the Kimber, great pistol but I think that as with some 1911s you never know how much tweaking will be involved to get it to run flawlessly. If I went back to a 1911 type pistol it would probably be the Kimber.

The USP grip was just to blocky for me, the DA trigger was also not as nice as the Sigs in my opinion. I prefer a DA/SA pistol over cocked and locked. It is just my preference I am not going to debate one over the other.

My 220ST is in my mind the ultimate 45. The grip is perfect the trigger pull is both DA and SA is great. Not like a finely tuned 1911 but what is. It has run flawlessly with everything I have shot through it. It was the one for me.

Just my opinion.

These 3 guns are very similar & yet very different...45 acp, very accurate & reliable, about the same price point and made buy top notch manufacturers. One is a steel frame 1911, one is aluminum & one is polymer; 2 are single stack mags and one is double stack.
If I had to pick one from the group, I always recommend the USP line to anyone asking.

Which feels better in YOUR hand?

They are all good guns..though I too have heard of problems with Kimber's recently.
Of the three....
I guess I'd pick Sig...cause you seldom hear of ANY problems...they are VERY nice handguns. If I had to get a DA .45 with a decocker, a SIG would be my purchase...220 AND 245(gotta have a backup!!).
But I personally would get a Colt....
HK's are just to big, even it they are reliable guns. But if they 'fit' you, they'll do very nicely.....they just did not fit me right.
The Kimber might be just fine...out of the box or with a small amount of tweaking.....
But all of the above should give a lifetime of service!
I like Rinspeed's answer...which one FIRST!!

H&K

Had a USP [variant #1- 45acp] one of the best overall pistols i've owned and shot.

Carry CCW one of thier compact models - 357sig.

If they made a full sized model in 10mm , that would be about as good as it gets!

12-34hom.

I sold my Colt Series 70 MK IV Gold Cup (still have USGI M1911's) after shooting my P220. Superbly accurate, completely reliable, very easy to strip for cleaning, reasonable prices.

If I could get the same deal LAPD SWAT got on the pistols, of course I'd buy what they did.

Kimber, because I have one and have had no problems at all with it plus very accurate.

The Kimber's Ive had and shot were flawless...Id highly recommend them.
The HK's Ive shot..havent owned one...have been flawless....
The Sigs Ive owned and shot....have been flawless.........

Choose "YOUR" trigger style, which fits "YOUR" hand and you can go wrong with any of them.......SERIOUSLY!

And BTW...they are all SINGLE stack guns. Shoot well...............................

Seriously, I have never shot anything that is as totally enjoyable to shoot as my Sig P220ST. It has totally rejuvinated my interest in punching a hole in a piece of paper.

Best $700 I ever spent.

They are all fine picks, and you basically can't go wrong with any of those fine sidearms.
However, my vote would be to forget the G30, and get a USP .45 compact, and kill two birds with one stone.

Having heard of recent quality problems relating to the Kimbers, I'd opt to leave them on the shelf.

I love HK products, but if it came down to only one I'd put my money down on the SIG P-220ST W/Rail.

RTFM

They are all so different I'm not surprised you're having a hard time deciding between the 3.

But take a look at the SIG P220ST as well since you're open to an all steel gun like the Kimber TLE. The P220ST is simply awesome.
