Kimber Ultra Carry TLE or Sig Sauer Ultra

Between these two 3" 1911s..cannot pick one..lol Actually, I'm still considering the basic and inexpensive Rock Island Tactical Compact as well..have heard lots of good reports with them.

But, if you could choose or have good/bad experiences, feel free to chime in.

Kimber - Like the Feel/weight and finish on the Ultra Carry models
Don't like - have heard they can be hit or miss, but you know how forums are..


Sig Sauer - Like: Price, night sights included in lower price as well as front serrations.

Don't like - added weight of steel frame

RIA - like - Price, but haven't tried one.

I have an Ultra Carry II with factory Meprolight night sights. I believe the only difference between it and the TLE is the finish and the front strap checkering.
I've had it almost a year and I love it. It is accurate and not as snappy as I originally expected an alloy frame compact to be. I've only put around 500 rounds through it but it has had absolutely no malfunctions. I put 50 230gn golden sabers through it with no issues and those are my carry round. It carries nicely and I shoot it well.

I have no experience with the Sig 1911's, but I've heard good reviews.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking Kimber as I've owned two that are great guns. Like Sigs though too, have a P238 for summer carry and its a fun gun to shoot!

I think I can do without the front strap checkering, so the basic Ultra might work fine.
