My cousin came to visit for the weekend with her little 5 year old daughter; they visit infrequently as they live quite a distance from us. After the usual hello's; we get to talking and it turns out that her car was broken into in front of her house. They took her stereo, GPS, etc. including her garage door opener. They knew it took place when the garage opened, but thank God no one entered the house.

Long story short, she knows that I know guns and was asking me what kind of weapon would be good for home defense. Before I could finish, my little 5 year old second cousin says that guns are bad and that if all the guns were gone there would be no crime!

I asked where she learned that, she said school. She is 5 years old and they are teaching her this!

This really upsets me; sorry, just had to vent.

Then it is our job as parents to be involved in every aspect of our children's lives. Go to the PTA meetings, meet the teachers outside of the Parent-teacher conferences, volunteer your time to help out in their classrooms and definitely take the time to reeducate the who have been brainwashed by the institutional indoctrination.

I have made sure that my kids know that I have guns and that they are not toys but that they could see them if they asked me. I also taught the the basic gun safety outline of the NRA's Eddie Eagle program. I was never more proud when my 6 year old said to me that guns are neither good nor bad but merely tools.
