Kindness on the range

Last month at the range, a youmg man got his eye too close to the scope on a .300 Win mag. I bandaged the gash up with my first aid kit. Nasty cut. He left with his pals for the E.R. It was my good deed for the day.

Not to hijack but I've seen the same with fishermen.

12 years ago, my oldest son (then 10 y.o.) and I were catfishing on the shore of our local reservoir and two older fellas were plunked down doing the same. We were close enough to be able to chew the fat and my son was using his bass rig as that was his main species of interest.

After about 45 minutes, one fella looked at the other, they nodded to each other, and one went to his truck. A minute later, he came back with a brand new 7 ft. cat rod and Zebco One reel and gave it to my son with the condition that if he caught a good size cat that day, they got to be in the picture with him. Just in case he didn't have any luck, we took a pic of the 3 of them with the new rig, anyway.

He's 22 now and still has and uses that rig. Whenever we go fishing, he still mentions how amazing it was of those fellas to do what they did. I hope karma did her thing and those guys wound up catchng cats big enough to slice into steaks.

Never saw either of those gentlemen again, god love 'em.

I've been the bearer and recipient of goodwill at my local indoor range. I had a few guys who were picking up brass after I started doing so hand everything they picked up to me. I bought each of them a box of ammo. :)

Armed societies are polite. ;)

Good stuff....... Ain't Karma Cool? Love stories like this..

LOL....I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole "Hunting/Piping thing" it too presents a visual... that .... well...... I just have this image of 'High Stepping and dressing "Regimental"... As a Scotsman, I understand the whole Kilt and tradition thing.... That is just sooooo Wrong.... on SOOOOOO many levels...... funny stuff though! Sorry, having a Monty Python Moment.....

Cop Bob:
You might like the song with bagpipes on Youtube: "It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll" by AC/DC. The singer already belonged to a bag pipe society in Australia.
We enjoyed Edinburgh and "Pitlochry" etc. Forgot the Gaelic spelling.

Nice job with the young guy spazman. Too bad a pat on the back can't be sent through this thing.

cop bob & ignition override. Kilt, claymore, tam o' shanter, and pipes running across the moor playing "the cambells are coming" How's that fer a visual?

Long Way to the Top...

No, I don't pipe and hunt at the same time. Kinda hard to blow, squeeze, finger the chanter and maintain muzzle discipline all at the same time. Not that I didn't try once...

And "Long way to the top" on bagpipes isn't an exact transposition of the song, but it's similar. It's known as "Angus Thing".
