The stab ''and twist'' is to grant more pain and blood loss to the attacker, personaly I don't think thats ''fair''. But then again I'm slash oriented, rather slash and then get as far away as possible. As far as knives I'd suggest a spyderco, and put a zip strip on the top of the hole and carry it tip up( reffering to the blade tip when closed), blade edge facing back so you draw in reverse grip, but its up to you on that one.
