I am anxiously awaiting my non-resident Oregon CCW. I now need to find a small enough gun to carry at work, where gun posession is prohibited. I really don't feel like taking the chance and carrying either my Glock 19 or 27. So here is what I am considering.

I've had Kel-Tec P32's, and always ended up selling them.

So now I am deciding between another P32 or a NAA Guardian G32.

It seems that P32's run about $239-$250 locally.

I've also found a Guardian G32, that is NIB w/Gutter Snipe Nite Sites. The gun store has had this on its shelf for a couple of years. They currently have it marked for $329, I think could be talked down a little more.

So is the Guardian worth $100 more??? Should I wait and look at the Kel-Tec P3AT?

My primary mode of carry is going to be either front jeans pocket or rear jeans pocket.

Thanks,

Steve

I've owned both, and still own the P32.

The P32 is much lighter, about half the weight of the Guardian. The Guardian is shorter, but wider, and more aesthetically pleasing...it's like a little Swiss watch, very pretty and well-made.

The recoil of the Guardian is much more pronounced than the P32. In fact, my Guardian was the most unpleasant handgun to shoot I've ever owned, while the P32 is a mild shooter thanks to the locked breech.

Both have somewhat vestigial sights, but I find the P32 easier to shoot simply because it's much more pleasant to runa box of ammo through it. For concealment, the P32 wins by a good margin thanks to the weight difference and thinness.

Well Steve, I think the reason you sold your previous P-32s is important. Maybe you just don't like them for reasons you haven't thought about that much. Doesn't sound like you have experience with the G32. You might like it "worse" than the P-32, so be careful.

IMO, P-32s are the ideal pocket guns because they're light so they easily move with your clothes. That's a gig against the G32.

Other advantages of the P-32's lightness is that you can stow it almost anywhere and have it stay put. You can easily fix up cheap holsters like the DeSantis Nemesis or Uncle Mike's to go in a boot, waistband or just about anywhere else.

I'm not a fan of blowback guns at all, so maybe my perspective on the G32 is biased.

Blackhawk,

I really kinda liked both of the P32's that i have had. I sold them primarily because I didn't/couldn't carry them all of the time. Suppose alot of this had to do with not having a permit in Oregon.

Also, I really don't like front pocket carry, because I sit alot. The gun seems to poke my leg all the time. This time I am considering rear pocket carry, two Glock 27 mags don't seem to bother me, so a little p32 wouldn't either.

I think I'll start looking for a good deal on another P32. Last one I got for $180 out the door, and that was like new chromed. Traded it for an AR15 lower, think I did ok.

Wish I could find a NIB Guardian 32 with Guttersnipe Night Sights in PA for $329.00! Great price, and would be hard to pass up. :what:

Steve,

I made a simple Kydex pocket holster for my P-32. The total thing is only 0.095" thick with a flat "outside" so it doesn't print at all in either a front, rear, or inside suit coat pocket. When wearing jeans, it goes in the back pocket. With nicer casual pants with bigger pockets, it's perfect in the front pocket. It's perfectly comfortable when carried in any pocket because it's so light and thin, just like a regular sized wallet.

Keep us posted! :D

I would have to vote for the P32.
I had a G32, and it felt like I was carrying a brick, and had an awful trigger.

I good pocket holster will make the gun feel better in your pocket.

I can just about guarantee that a 16+oz. gun like the Guardian is going to be a lot less comfortable than the 9oz (loaded) P32.

In my opinion, for all day carry comfort, the P32 just can't be beat.
I love my Kahr PM9 for pocket carry, but it certainly makes a bigger lump than my P32.
Also, unless the pants fit just right, a bigger gun is going to have you pulling your pants up every few minutes.

I've got a Guardian that I like A LOT! I've had it for maybe five years, and it has been reliable with all ammo. The P32 just isn't built well enough for ME to trust my life with it.

Carry Gun

Those little pea-shooters will hardly make someone attacking you flinch. You need to stick to something that will get a person's attention. I recommend you step up to the plate, get rid of your dress, and carry Sig P220.

Just my opinion. :D

Just my opinion.
And it's just as irrelevant as that of any of the rest of us! :neener:

However, the subject is choosing between a P-32 or G-32, not whether either one is a good CCW choice....

You should E mail Kentucky Rifle. He is an avid pocket gun collector and if anyone could tell you he could. I think he owns 1 or 2 of all of them.

Pathfinder6110,
let me unload a mag of P-32 into you while you charge me.... I bet you do more than flinch.... :)

Having carried and shot both, I say the Kel-Tec. Lighter, thinner, stonger, much easier to make good, rapid hits with. The NAA is very well built, but is just outclassed by the ugly, cheap little plastic Kel-Tec. The locked-breech design of the P32 means you can use the hot Cor-Bon 60gr... which is about 100 FPS faster than 60gr Silvertip, Hydrashock, etc. IIRC, the Cor-Bon isn't recommended for blowback guns.

I've had both,,,I still carry the P32. I really liked the Guardian for appearence workmanship, and goodies you could get to fix it up. The only thing was it the weight, it still was a heavy little sucker. And after all, this type of gun is made for a very concealed CCW, not a gun to put into fine leather and show off on your hip.

I vote for the P-32. I've had one for a couple of years.

I am seriously reconsidering my position and might get Sig 220 and quit wearing dresses. Then again, maybe I'll stick to my policy of not taking the advice of someone half my age who just got here and likely only got out of knee pants not all that long ago ;)

GunNut...

I DO own a lot of "pocket pistols". Including a Guardian and P-32. If you had a couple of P-32's before, and you sold them, then there must have been a reason you sold them. (Something you didn't like, maybe?) Anyway, you can carry the Guardian MUCH more comfortably in a back pocket holster by RJ. That's how I carry mine and I forget it's there. Right now my own Guardian is stoked with RBCD's.
Have a look at RJ's website. He's a nice guy to deal with too. (Oh, that back pocket holster also fits the inside pocket of a sport coat or suit coat. I carry mine like that a lot.)
If I was offered a G32 w/"Gutter Snipe" sights NIB for that price, I'd jump on it.
