House staff has called to let us know that the Governor and Chicago Mayor will attempt a gun and magazine ban when the House reconvenes for the lame duck session.

They will reconvene on Sunday at 5pm

Call your Representative's local and Springfield office. Do it today, then fill up their machines tomorrow if no one's answering their phones on Saturday, then on Sunday as they should be open. The House comes into session at 5:00 p.m.

Light up the Speaker's offices too. Here's a link to his contact info with fax lines, etc. His Springfield office number in the Capitol is (217) 782-581-8000. His office in Chicago is (773) 581-8000. Start the calls now.

Jeff White, I agree the "Friday" statement was wrong but maybe some panic is still appropriate? Since the bills are still alive and being pushed aggressively by the governor and Chicago mayor.
Seems we in Illinois have to slay this evil dragon at least once very year. And will continue as long as those idiots in Chicago try to run the whole damn state.

I've lived here 54 years, I own farmland and a nice house, I have a small business, and a mother in assisted living that depends on me for a lot. But my wife and I are just about to the point of selling everything and buying a motor home until we decide where to resettle. Illinois is a freakin mess politically and financially and all those idiots do is try to pull more dirty tricks on those of us obeying the laws and paying the taxes.

I don't think that inciting panic is ever a good thing. Personally I was insulted by the "your guns banned by Friday" email. It's like the people I pay to fight for me in Springfield think I am some kind of moron who doesn't even know when the legislature is in session.

And we will fight this every year no matter how much we win in court as long as Chicago is part of the state.
