I've used this stuff and had a bottle of it sitting around for some time. The recipe I used mentioned warming it up, which I did and it all dissolved, and still does to this day (probably 3-4 years old) But as it cooled off and sat around a portion of the lanolin has dropped out.
My question is, how do the store bought solutions keep lanolin in suspension on the shelf? Is there mixture ratio alot higher.. say 16:1 or more? Is the 10:1 recipe actually a super dose sized amount that is not necessary? Can you add something to the mixture so it stays in suspension without warming it up?

My homemade liquid lanolin and 99% isopropyl alcohol mix does not separate after months or years kept in a spray bottle or the factory Dillion spray bottle. I do give it a little shake before using. I started testing 8/1 and found it too greasy and now my mix is close to 12/1. Less percentage on the alcohol has more water in it and may separate in time. May depend on the brand of lanolin too? Mine used is Home Health Pure liquid lanolin and doesn't need heat to get it to mix.

I use 91% and it separates , I just shake it up and it’s gtg . The only time I heat it up is when I need to get the pure lanolin out of it’s bottle . That stuff is thick And at room temperature it’s hard to pour out in the correct quantities

You will find that the factory made lubes use 99% and require perodic shaking as stated on their labels. FWIW I never let my mix sit that long so my setteling is minimal I guess as it is never noticed. It is just good practice to shake or stir a can of anything that might separate. At least that was what I was always taught so doing so is second nature IMO.

I heated mine up and got it mixed up. At room temps it appears to be stable, so it must not fall out of suspension for a certain amount of time or temperature. Pretty warm here right now. Winter time might be too cold for it to stay in solution.

99% alcohol.
Think heet in the red bottle.
Its good stuff, no separation after years of use.

I use the same and unless temps are above 60 or so I find it'll separate overnight. While I'm getting things ready I usually just put the bottle in my pocket and in about 5 minutes take it out and shake it up.

I use the red bottle of Heet Drygas it is 99% alcohol and liquid lanolin 10 to 1 ratio. My reloading room is a walk in closet off a bedroom in the house.i never had a problem with it seperating. I do give it a shake before I use it. My spray bottle is about empty so I will need to mix up another batch.
On the spray bottle I put a line with a black sharpie at 4&1/2" and another line at 1/2".
Pour in the Heet at the 4 1/2" then the lanolin up to the 5" mark
It last a long time.
Since useing this mix I haven't had a stuck case.
I still keep a can of Hornady One Shot around I use once in a while but my main lube is the home made mix.

I have the plastic tray from the McDonalds big breakfast.
I use the black bottom to spray a batch. I will put a layer of cases and spray them then roll them around and hit them again.
I then put them in the clear plastic top and do another batch. & put them in the clear plastic top.
Wait around 5 minutes and the start to resize. I do wipe the neck off with a paper towel and use dry neck lube.
I don't get any stuck cases any more.

I use the Heat/Lanolin mix i bottle Heat to 1oz Lanolin, I shake it each time before using it 1 squirt in gallon size plastic ziplock bag then insert brass in bag and squirt again, close the bag and mix everything up lay everything out on a cookie sheet and let alcohol evaporate. The second batch I just put brass in the bag and give them 1 squirt. I think the Heat or 99% alcohol is better than the 91% found on most store shelves, a local pharmacy can order it for you.

I use the lanolin alcohol mix & when mine started to separate I dropped in two .223 projectiles to help agitate the mix. (It took about two months of sitting in a cold basement for it to separate) Give it a good shake & it hasn't separated again.

I use 91% alcohol mixed with lanolin and just shake it every time I use it. I have never had an issue with it at all. Keep it in a spray bottle.

Get it from the auto parts store.

I just bought two containers of the red Heet from Walmart Friday. It was under $3 a bottle.
I ordered a couple of small bottles of liquid lanolin from E Bay a year or two ago. I'm good for a couple of years on lube.

I have been using the Dillon stuff for 25+ years. I am on my 3rd bottle. I never saw the cost justification for making my own. I have used the same cardboard box for applying and shaking the brass. Most of the time I don't even need to squirt any additional lube on the brass. Just shaking the clean brass in the old cardboard box is plenty of lube for me. If I can actually feel the lube on the brass I have way too much lube.
