...a priceless piece of advice from Chief Clarey: "Citizens can fight crime more effectively by learning to become excellent witnesses." How they can do that from the morgue is something the Chief did not explain.

Every time a state addresses the C.C.W. issue, the leftist extremists trot out the same batch of fears, prejudices, irrational nonsense, and lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, and shameless ad hominem attacks. You'd think they could at least come up with some new material once in awhile.

Yet more examples of bureaucrats whole place more value on keeping their jobs (by sucking up to City Hall and parroting the party line) than on actually doing their jobs (serving and protecting).

Wow, those are some powerful rebuttals and clearly define a few reasons why we should be able to defend ourselves at ALL times.

The DA quoted is from my county in Wisconsin, as are most of the bureaucrat coppers. Sad bunch, altogether. The DA is stamping his feet because the Legislature would NOT change the law to prevent a licensee from carrying in his car. Stupid, of course--in Lott's study from 1979-1994 the number of LEO's attacked by CCW licensees was ZERO. Zip. Nada. None.

Only case found (by Violence Policy Center, post-1994) was when an ex-LEO shot and wounded three officers at a traffic stop.

I haven't been following the Wisconsin CCW movement for a long time, but I follow all gun-related issues on a national basis daily for the last few years. From what I've seen, WI CCW went from (what seemed like) 0 to the govs desk in a few months. A couple of dumb court decisions and they decide it ought to be fixed. Just like that.

Here in Ohio were continue to :banghead: :cuss: :fire: .

All of this is a long way to say I wish he hadn't limited his comments to Wisconsin.

Natural reaction of people stripped off a tiny bit of their power.

They are neither willing nor able to protect their peasantry. Giving that unwashed peasantry means of self-protection? Naaaa, we can't do that! Next time they will not even go off the boardwalk and call us "Sir"!

ninenot, do you have a source for the ex-LEO shooting three officers at a traffic stop? That sounds very similar to a case years back in Connecticut. A former reserve officer shot three Connecticut state troopers when they approached his house to investigate bomb-making materials. He shot them from within his house with a rifle. That's the story I was able to find a couple of years ago, and I'm just reciting it from memory right now.
