A back-up to a back-up gun?

That'd be a last-ditch, super-surprise, no-one knows it's coming, James-Bondish cheating gun.

Ok. How about this? You can have it in .357 mag, or .45 ACP.

From Downsizer Corporation in Santee, California.

No fair! :p One shot, miniature ultra-hideout sneaky-spy special. In serious calibers, 'cuz ya only get one. Better make it count.

Like I said. A cheating gun. And right here in the PRK, too! Who'da thought? :D

Anyone ever fired one of these? I want one just on principal, and for the Bond factor. I bet I won't shoot it much, but I don't care. It's just too sneaky to believed. The ultimate "always gun". ;)

(Hmm. I wonder if these are on the Kal-DOJ Extortion List?)

Without an overcoat or suit coat, I can conviently conceal 5 easily accessible guns: 1 front pocket, 1 rear pocket, 3 IWB. They are 1 .32 ACP, 2 .380 ACP, 2 9mm Luger. IWBs with spare mags.

Why?

Just for fun and to see what it's like.

One bug seems like overkill at the moment....

I can see this for a LEO, but no bugs for me. If I was going somewhere that I thought I needed a bug, my normal carry would be my backup and I'd have a shotgun to hand. Or maybe I'd rethink whether I really needed to be there all that much and stay home instead and microwave some popcorn.

I have carried both the Tomcat and the j-frame in the past and I'd definitly go with the snubby. Tomcats are pretty accurate for thier size and they feel good in the hand but mine didn't last too long in use. A hairline crack appeared in the bolt face (slide face?)after trying out some Fiocchis.

That and the anemic performance of those .32's.....and oh yeah, the trigger pull.

Man I need something for when I can't wear on my belt...I havent seen these suckers in CA at all :(

Pappy John,

If I was going somewhere that I thought I needed a bug, my normal carry would be my backup and I'd have a shotgun to hand. Or maybe I'd rethink whether I really needed to be there all that much and stay home instead and microwave some popcorn.

If I thought I was going to need a gun, period, I'd be staying home with that Orville Redenbacker's, however, I flunked out of the training classes for Dionne Warwick's Psychic Friends Network. ;)

I just reckon that anyplace worth carrying one is worth carrying two or three; it's not like it's any harder. Part of it is for the same reason I carry a knife in each front pocket; no matter what I'm doing or which hand is free, there's a knife close at hand. There's nothing more annoying than holding a heavy box (warding off a perp) with your right hand and not having a knife (gun) accessible to your left. Also, it'd be just my luck for the first one to break when I needed it the most; rather than yell "time out", I figure I'll just drop it and pull out the other one.

Ok, I know some places are less than hospitable...

Hence the need for a gun, even two. But if a trip to a location, after evaluating the necessity of travel there, requires 3 or 4 personal firearms, plus a couple of knives, I'd also want a radio link to the C-130 that's gonna drop the BLU-82 Daisycutter or MOAB in there before I show up. Or is that also part of the Tamara personal defense ensemble that we weren't supposed to know about? :D

Last ditch gun is a NAA 22 LR - really small. I think the question was for a last ditch gun.
If it was just a BUG - then I use a J frame for a Glock as primary.

Heck, Probably 25% of the time, I carry just the P32.
That's why I sold my P32's... First it was BUG, then it was "just the P32" about 25% of the time, then 50%... eventually, I was just carrying the P32 even though I was perfectly capable of carrying something larger and more effective.

I don't understand why that the farther you get from your primary gun (backup, and then backup to the backup) that for some reasion you must drop size and caliber, eventually moving down to some of the least lethal options. You sort of got to figure that if you haven't handled the problem with your full-sized gun, dropping size and caliber to the backup is not going to afford you that same potential success rate as your full-sized and larger caliber carry.
And THAT would be the mentality that lead me to my S&W 642 as "backup" and sometimes "just it" gun. .38 +p is nothing to sneeze at, were my Kahr K40 to become disabled for some reason... Plus, since I personally don't LIKE revolvers (certainly nothing wrong with them, they're just "not my bag baby") I'm less likely to settle on just a J-frame in the pocket, and more likely to add that K40 or P99 to the belt.

But still, as a BUBUG, (which I never carried) I don't see why a P32 wouldn't fit the bill then. I mean eventually you're gonna run out of places to stash all those 1911's :D

Beyond, or as an alternative to the everyday fare? Well, when a girl has to go light, then it's the derringer and the 686, with a little something extra:

Some years ago I read a good point of view. I don't know who wrote this...If your primary weapon isn't enough gun, your back up needs to be BIGGER! Now that is totally different from a hideout gun...small frame, lighter caliber, shorter barrel.easy to hide. Well, I have enough trouble carrying one gun and extra mags, and a Surefire, knife, car/truck/house/shop/ect. keys and
I don't know where I'd put another gun...much less TWO additional guns. I'd need to hire a gun bearer like I was on safari.

Never really thought much about it before but my backup order of ops does escalate in power... 45acp -> 44mag -> hi velocity rifle.

I don't always carry backup, when I do it's handy in the vehicle, not on my person.

Phoenix Arms HP-22. What? Stop laughing! Argh. :(

Actually it's not bad at all. VERY good for a gun that cost me $125 and came with two magazines and two barrels..I bought it as a toy and didn't expect much at all - but it's been quite reliable and fun to shoot. Single-action instead of striker-fired, ten round capacity, digests everything except unjacketed Winchester .22LR..nice.
